Post by lebowski770 »

Hello, any advice on how to take the pinion off where the hex screw is stripped?

I've had good luck with valve grinding compound but its not something that everyone has sitting in their garage.

You can do that but you have to be careful you don't damage the armature.

pinion set screw is probably too small, but I used a square drive screwdriver bit and dremeled it down a bit and was able to use it to remove a set screw that holds the hex pin from a 1/8 scale axle...that and I used some Kroil oil...best penetrating oil I've every used.

another thing that I have done is used a donor allen key and applied a very small amount of JB weld to it and was able to unscrew after it dried...but it wasn't a set screw...so I'm not sure if this will work for you or not.
