Got Me a Hilux !!

Post by besty22 »

Well last week I bought a Bruiser and the guy had a Hilux for sale but I didnt have that sort of cash on me so I had to pass it up. As I drove the hour or so home I thought "Maybe I can sell a few RC cars to buy that Hilux"
With a lot of luck and some cheap prices I raised the money and now have three three speeds :)
The guy has owned it from new and it was only run on carpet. He was a spray painter by trade and the paint work is near perfect.

It came with the 4000mah 6v battery too, Do you think I could try to charge it up or just keep it as a prop? I was a bit worried about trying to charge it. Dont want to start a fire or anything.

As a bonus he threw in some Blazer wheels and tryes along with an 84 guide book. (Guide book is in German lol)

Let me know what you reckon.

Oh soo nice. I am looking forward to seeing this one in person when I get down there for a visit soon.

Great score on a truly classic bit of history.

Hey thanks mate. It's a beauty. I am going to try and get out for a gentle run and get some pics.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to try to charge up the old battery, just for the cool factor of running it all original. :)

Sounds like a good start. at least it's not a lipo....... and you can check the voltage with ease. Post up some video when you get it running .

That's a fantastic score. I always wanted one and was fascinated by the gearbox.

Can't wait to see some video of it running.

I think the old batt will be fine if its an old nicad.

Cheers

David

Probably one of Tamiya's best cars and this is a perfect example.
