A good motor/ESC/brushless motor setup - questions inside!

Post by uniquenamehere »

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a brushless motor setup, I'd like to have a decent amount of power, but nothing to overwhelm my car (stealth transmission gold pan, with B4 slipper assembly). I've picked out a few parts that would seem to work together but I'd like to get some input from experts (I'm a total noob at all things brushless and lipo).

GENS ACE 5000mAh 40C 7.4V Hardcase Lipo Battery

I'm not sure how many amps that motor is pulling, but I assume that the ESC and battery should be up for the task. My questions:

1) Is that a suitable motor for my car?
2) Will that battery fit in the gold pan bulkhead/battery cup?
3) Am I on crack? Is this a silly combination? Does anyone have other opinion on setups?

Thanks!

The Ex Run 13.5t would be my choice.

I have a graphite with stealth and is just right on a track. If bashing in a park you may need a little more. The stealth is a very good tranny & will handle a lot more with the slipper adj right.

I have found this combo to be just unreal & at a stupid price. I have just ordered 2 more combo's from him. These combo's are brillant.

Batteries of up to 5000 mah are fine in my rc10 but any higher in Mah it will be too thick to fit in battery holder.

Remember brushless motor need to be geared harder then brushed.

Sounds like a good setup. I'm running a Castle Mamba Max Pro with. castle 5700kv in one car and a 4600 in another. Both are stupid fast. Using Gens Ace 5000 mah lipos in both. One is a 50c and the other a 40c but I can't tell the difference. I will say that I've heard nothing but good things about the hobby wing stuff so I say go for it!

the hobbywing xerun combos are a great value, sensored/programable. the motors tend to be slightly weaker then the bigger brands.
for example a xerun 8.5t is 4000kv, but a novak 8.5t is 5000kv. i really like the xerun esc's though, super value for sure.
