I thought I would pass this on. The factory shock collars on the Vanning are plastic and become brittle with age. I took a chance, and purchased a pair of these aluminum ones. They work great and the red color makes for a good factory appearance. They are available on Ebay, but you can save a little bit of money by going to partgustore directly. Hope this helps.

For the front shocks, you can also use the collars from the Raider. The plastic is more like nylon and it will not break or fade like the originals.

is there a suitable replacement or retrofit for the spring collars on the vintage red shocks other than zip-ties?

I picked up a used car with 3/4 collars completely broken, and the 4th well on its way out.

Don, thanks for the offer, but those are too big.
I will hold off on buying anything until ROH73 has the clamps made.
for now I am rocking zip-ties with fuel tubing. Not pretty but gets the job done. :lol:

Is there a modern replacement for the small black screw that goes in the collar of Kyosho gold and Kyosho platinum shocks? Actually, my collars seem to have two types of screws (one wider than than the other). I always try to match sets of 4 shocks...

Has anyone ever determined a strong yet aesthetically pleasing fix/repair for the early style, thin Jrx-2 shock spring collars? I have used epoxy, and while strong, it usually looks kinda ugly. I have tried a tiny machine screw into a pre-drilled...

I'm looking to spray paint a Vanning shock and match as close to the original red annodized color as possible. Just curious if anyone has experience with a paint brand / color that is a very close match?

Not sure if this one is going to fly here but somebody might get a kick out of it. Used but restored and in good shape. Definitely my favorite gas buggy.

The Galaxy was mad by Marui, it was released with a red roll cage and a blue one too. Heavy, slow, fragile, almost undamped... but cool looking. I had once a while ago which I sold to a friend, he restored it and now still runs it during vintage...

Here's an old one I always drooled over in the Tower Hobbies catalog....a 4wd Vanning.
Picked this up pretty cheap. It's complete and the only real damage is a broken weld on the rear of the cage. Came with a bunch of extra parts, starter, 2 O.S....
