From MR4 TC to MR4 BC

Post by mamadoesntletme »

Hi guys

I have at home a mr4 tc (the basic one with plastic parts) I started to build 2 years ago, but since I am no big fan of touring cars I was thinking that this car has many parts in common with the off road version, so why not convert it. I am not sure if this will be easy or not.
Anyone is versed in the mr4 bc here?
I guess I have to get a body,get dampers, a slipper, F&R shafts and arms,shocks towers..
Is difficult to get parts for this car? I

Arms
Shocks (modern yokomo shocks are the correct length)
Turnbuckles
Drive shafts
Hubs
Wheels

You can use a MX 4 body apparently and a MX 4 slipper. If you want to use MX4 CVD's you will need to use the MX 4 diff joints and hubs.

Edit

The front bulkhead may be different.

to add to alex's list, you'll need a top deck, bulkhead/caps, hinge pins, shock towers, rear wing mounts, bumper, body and wing... i don't know what mr4tc you have but some were a little less packaged than the newer models. the front and rear carriers are the same as the touring car. but for the buggy you might want to add a little more camber or toe in. the wheel adapters had two versions. the "mx4" 6 bolt version and the later version for the bcs. which had their own set of wheels. that's up to you what you want to use and how you want the buggy to look like. as for the gear adapter, you could put on what ever fits. an mx4 clutch, bcs clutch, or just run it off the touring car's stock non-clutchless 4 bolt gear adapter.

check out the mr4bc manual and you'll get an idea what you want to change and do.

A bit fidgety and twitchy. But lots of fun, especially when the setup is right!

in stock form it is a bit wild in the rear. mount some new big bore V2's, relocate the rear upper shock location to give you more droop, and you got a better handling buggy. the only thing i hate about it is the belt skipping. i'm still looking for a belt tensioner that fits.
