Neat car storage solution

Post by CAT3K »

I quite like this idea. It's pretty low tech, but cool way to store your cars.

I like it, I like it very much.....

Could make few of these quite easily, off to my local hardware shop I think.

Not bad...I'd add rubber sleeves to the posts, and maybe some kind of rubber knobs on the ends to help prevent the cars from slipping or falling off. I like that it keeps the weight off the tires and allows you to view the car from almost all sides.

Just showed this to the wife. We like it. I think the wife actually would just like me not to store RC stuff on top of the overhead cabinets in the kitchen. I'd like to put them in my youngest boy's room as we have a race car set up complete with sheet metal and dirt track tires I've turned into picture frames. But that lil monkey would figure a way to get them and "work" on them without my supervision. Maybe will have to figure out an anti kid device.

Maybe set the posts at a 5 degree angle, so the cars favor the wall side a little?

I really like this. I'm in the process of reorganizing my hobby room, and I'll have to keep this idea in mind.

you can get a similar storage solution with a track and bracket system. The track and bracket system is easier to change around if you have different sized vehicles. The track and bracket isn't as neat and clean as this though.

This is a neat idea but without a drill press it is very hard to drill a hole straight enuf to keep all these dowels uniformly angled...just sayin from experience

Well I didnt waste much time and got some built. It freed up alot of room and am quite happy with it.

I used 1/2" dowels and figured they would be 1/2" nope .480" and a 1/2" forsner bit makes a .510" hole. so I had some movement on a few of the pegs before the glue dried  . I will have to take them out and re-glue at somepoint but overall very happy.
The weight of some of the motors is bending some pegs. maybe have to step up sizes on the next batch.

Great job on those. It looks like you can get a lot of cars in a small space.
