Tamiya BigWig #4 "Shadow Edition"

Post by THE H.P FREAK »

HI!... So this will be my 4th Bigwig build. This one will be a bit different from what I usually do. No boxart on this one. This one will be custom a bit with a "Shadow" theme. You'll see what I mean...

HI!... They are vintage Dirt Burner's. I only wish I had 4 of them. The two are going on the back. The front will get HD dog bones.

HI!... You don't see too many CVD kits for the Bigwig. Apparently these ones are rare from what I have been told. I'm also trying to find this :

So, far, I like it. Can't wait to see the finished product. Nice use of vintage parts too.

I think I like it better all-black than the original blue & yellow. Nice job finally getting that dye to stick. 8)

HI!... Got some more work done to the BigWig tonight. Got the Technigold motor cleaned up and installed. 17T pinion. All new wires. Vintage Futaba ESC and RX. Since this BIGWIG is being built with available mods of the time period, I decided to go ESC on it. Plus all the electronics are black, to go with the theme of the project. :P The gold lettering stands out with the gold Technigold motor. I'm kinda at a stand still currently. Still have to order a TBG body and find some original decals. Wish I was better on the PC. I would luv to make black&white versions of the original BigWig decals to use on the car since the body will be black. I also need to find a set of front lower control arms. That's going to be a challenge since they are hard to come by these days. :(

Well I worked on BigWig #4 today. Got a set of 4 new black shock springs installed. Also NIP lower control arms and one upper. Found out it was cracked after I put some screws into it. Got the steering done and front tires on. I glass beaded the room plate and the NIP YOU-G aluminum rear shock tower. They have been painted gloss black and drying. Just got to find some steering boots and figure out what I'm doing for decals. Then I have to order 3-4 BigWig bodies from TBG.
