1993 Brian Kinwald WC re-release build. "DONE"

Post by sandkil »

It all started with the thread that Cedric did on his replica of Brian Kinwalds 1993 WC car. http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=5503&hilit=1993+brian
I've read that thread over and over again and it's such a beautifu car.
Now with the rere of the world's car I immediately put down a pre-order and waited and waited..
A couple of weeks ago I cancelled my pre-order and started to think of trying to do my own "re-release" of the 1993 BK car.

Here are some pics of my progress.

Thanks rcracr20. Had to wing it from the pictures that Cedric had taken on his build.

Rear bulkhead met the Dremel. removal of the "ears" and added world's holes.
Next a black dye cooking.

What do you use to get such a clean cut on your front plate and motor plate?

I tried an old gold pan with my dremel and it turned out looking like crap

I use a belt/disc sander, but you can use a file, block and sandpaper, or DA sander, etc. Something with a flat reference surface behind the abrasive/cutting tooth so you cut a really long surface all at once.

Thats what I use. First a dremel or similar with a cutting wheel, then a file and last a block with 600 grit paper.

Some more progress on the build.
Did some work on the Chassis and installed the bulkhead.
Not sure on the blue anno 4-40 lock nuts. A bit big I think.

Thank you guys for your compliments :)
I do feel that i'm on the right track, I would love to hear your thoughts/inputs as the build progresses.
my aim was to do this build with what's being offered on the market today, but I think I will use vintage front wheels, tires, hydra drive and a nut or two. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this.

That looks amazing.

Interesting way to build the front end. I like it. Not at all now the instruction manual says to do it, but it makes sense. Nice.
