Thanks for posting this, I have the MIP ball diff and going over the instructions, I noticed some points I wasn't aware of.
The resolution is a bit low though, and in some places its really hard to make the words. In the future you might want to upload a larger (better resolution) file, the forum support up to 250kb size pics, which I believe is enough to make text readable.

i found this at the lhs with no header card. i looked through the scan archives, and i believe this is an SP-3 diff kit. what do you guys think?

definitely a RC10 MIP diff. and I would say it is a later version, but I haven't the knowledge to tell you exactly which one :cry: :wink:

is there some kind of friggin trick to get these smooth? i've had mine apart and together at least 20 times and it still feels like crap. and yes, everything is clean and lubed. :wink:

Best way to run them in is with TOOTHPASTE ....there is a nice gentle abrasive in toothpaste.......

Build the diff using toothpaste as grease - and then run it using a drill on one side - making the gears rotate and grind themselves in gently -...

getting the bits together to try to make my own take on the mip ball diff,it wont be a replica as im basing it on a tamiya aftermarket brass gear. ive found a supplier for the belleville washers and am guessing there approx 2-2.5mm id and 5-6mm od...

I decided to do this build after searching for the parts to make a MIP 4x4 for years and never being able to find all of the parts.

The car has a mix of Tamiya and Associated genes with a set of MIP trailing arms and will end up being a...

My major gripe is that the brass gear makes the diff noticeably heavier than the an aluminum SP-1 diff assembly. :?

I only used the Thorp Ball diff. in the MIP trans, the idler was the MIP delrin turbo gear with the non-brass MIP top gear and...
