Horizon Hobby TQ-10, whats the siginificance?

Post by toybaron »

Collectors::: What makes this car interesting from a collecting perspective? Also, can someone help place it in the timeline of parts and upgrades ?

Came out right before the RC10 Graphite 6025/6030 kits. There was also some evolutionary transition from early to late production (which I think we determined was less than two years). There's a review in the scans section and if you hunt around some of the older posts you'll find it all out. Searching "tq10" doesn't seem to go all the way back, but there is good reading and some nice restos.

Definitely an important part of any real collection. Yours is one of the last type. 8)

gold motor plate not right? this is the way i got the car....leads me to my next suggestion as I saw how fast the ebay forum was added (great idea in my opinion) as a result of inquiry and feedback...

how about a pinned/sticky reference forum that contains a thread for each RC10 model as introduced in stock form showing and explaining each models stock components from an originality perspective? this would be a way to know if your car had the right stuff on it and if not what it was supposed to have. i always like to start a project knowing what it should be....wether it ever gets there is a different story....

thoughts?

I think Temple is up to something like that :?:
Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

maybe it was different in the late version, but i don't think so. the first version of the tq10, with the short arms, had a black anodized motor plate. the second version, with the wide arms, should've been the same.

as to your idea, i know temple is working on something. and it's also in discussion between the mods. it's a lot of information to get together, so it'll take some time.

exactly the kind of info I am looking for...

----I'd be glad to help with a reference section----

I have a few of the early kits that are still sealed I would open and document contents with photos if thats the way one part of refernece section here would go...

ya know, the more i think about it, maybe i was a little quick to question the gold motor plate. it could be something as simple as a mid-production change. god knows the rc10 kits had enough of that.

but, if you ever find a factory anodized black motor plate drilled only for a 6 gear trans, it's for a tq10.

Don't pay attention to the front shock tower on that rig... Ron, yours is correct.

you saw that too? i didn't until after i posted the pic. i was starting to think that it was an early tq10, and long arms were put on. but the chassis is drilled for the motor guard. so, that makes me think that the tower was swapped for one reason or another.

the chassis is drilled for it, but they didn't come with one (99.9% sure).

but if you want one, send me a pm.

I can't read the text with the japanese auction , maybe it's been modified clearly having been a runner:

Kind of strange mix or is that just my ignorance on the rc10 subject?
