great 90s afx ho slot haul for a 10er

Post by discgolfer72 »

was out on my motorcycle yesterday , and on my way home hit a few garage sales
one sale had a ton of old tyco track and 2 cars for 40$ was planning on going back to pick it up (good thing I decided to pass it up)
then the last sale (one a few blocks from my house) had this sweet setup for 10$(looks like it was meant to be lol) lucky me the lady set it aside for me so I could go get my truck lol

took a bit of cleaning the track and had to replace some shoes and springs on 2 of the cars , but works a champ now
all the cars are afx , except 2 that are tyco (the tyco cars suck seems the traction magnets are not that strong they tend to drift on turns and fall right off the loops )

now just need to build a table so I can stop killing my knees sitting on the floor

That is awesome! i still have all my AFX stuff too. The black/green and red/white stock cars were the first two slot cars I had; came with a small figure 8 track. Based a few RC bodies off them. Good times...

Enjoy!

Wow! What a bargain! And that is one big track.
No broken tabs on the track sections? My old track has very few unbroken tabs. I recently bought a boxed set and it was the same. I’m planning on setting it up permanently, nailed down to a table top, and mixing it up with my old HO train stuff, which is also in pretty rough condition. I’m not going for perfection, just something my daughter and nephews can play around on.

that makes sense , looks like they broke or misplaced some parts at some point , because the main layout instructions had the part numbers hand written over on several of the sections
and there was also a instruction sheet for a figure 8 layout ,so those 2 cars probably came with a figure 8 set

no broken tabs yet (my 2 r old keeps stepping on the track ) really need to get it up on a table lol
other than some corrosion on the track rails and dust it really is in perfect condition

im pretty floored after looking at new afx sets ,hobby store had a set 1/3 the size of this one for 209$
hunting ebay the old cars are going for 25-50$ auction with bids on them

pretty happy for 10$ lol
