3D Printed RC Parts

Post by Carknowledge101 »

I will soon (hopefully) get started working on a completely 3D printed rc10. But before I start that I would like to see everyone's 3d printed parts. From a shock cap to an entire vehicle I want to see it all!

Lets see what you got!

Are you guys running these parts or are they on shelfers? I'm just curious to know if they hold up well. Early on parts didn't hold up well, but the tech and materials have gotten much better since then.

You need to optimize the design of the part for the printing method and material.

The fibre fill plastics are a major step forward in strength , way stronger than the commonly accepted weak parts that were the early norm for 3d printing but you also have to design for the process as above .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

I wish someone would 3D print some big wood screws, for that true vintage - modern - vintage feel.....

I realize that you're planning to print an RC10 but Dadio has designed and printed a Yoke Dogfighter and you can read all about that in this link:

Dadio, I hope you don't mind.
It's a fascinating read and a must for anyone interested in recreating an entire car from what are essentially spools of plastic thread.

Running but not frequently. I don't have my own printer: all of mine are printed nylon on an hp mjf printer. This printing procedure is very different in 2 ways that matter much to me: the parts are equally strong in all directions and there is no need for suppporting structures
