Transmitter Disassembly

Post by HS-YZ250 »

The centering spring for the wheel on my transmitter let go this weekend. Trying to hold off on big purchases for a bit, so I thought I'd take a stab at opening this one and seeing if I can print what I need. Got all the screws out but it doesn't want to separate around the battery holder. Anyone take one of these apart and know how to disassemble this area without breaking things?

You need a heat gun to gently remove the label, there are screws underneath. I forget what side they are on. Also, if that radio has a screen you'll need to gently remove it with a heat gun, or order a new one if it's scuffed.

Oh, god! Two or three times they've replaced it!?

Guess I'll be shopping for a new transmitter before too much longer! lol!

Thanks for finding that!

Scratch the screen thing I've said earlier, that radio has it on the face instead of like the 3R.

You can bend another loop out of the spring.

I had to do that on one of me spektrum transmitters. Just pull on the spring to get some wire free and pull it back.

Fortunately my job still swaps out customer printers and had a bunch of old Dymos in the bin. From my printer design days I recall that Dymo likes to use worm gears and extension springs (super specific industry knowledge), so I took apart a few types and one had the dark brown small spring, which I immediately stretched on accident of course, but it works and my transmitter's back together. Hopefully these springs are better quality and will outlast the original.
