I saw that one on ebay. I THOUGHT that front tube looked bent. Nice grab. What did it go for?
EDIT: Nevermind... I read your post. The bent front tubes must happen a lot although I never remember that happening to me when I had mine back in the day. That's the vintage I want to pick up. Let me know if you want to sell it.

Re: Need help on what year this is.
that's a late championship edition. temple would be the one to give a year, but i'll say 1994.
the "ATC" (adjustable torque clutch) is the slipper clutch on the trans.
welcome to the board, by the way.

This car seems to be in very good condition with the exception of the bent and missing support tube and a new body from AE and i would like to get it running, but i'm not sure if i want to drive it or just make it a shelf queen. And to answer the ? of what i got it for it was 5 bucks.

Definitely a nice grab, is it still on bushings? Temple will also notice the aluminium shock caps and a risky gear mesh...

Nice grab mate, you could easily make that a shelfer and get a more thrashed one for running...

You never ran your car headlong into a curb or a brick wall, though.call-911 wrote:The bent front tubes must happen a lot although I never remember that happening to me when I had mine back in the day.

2008.Re: Need help on what year this is.
This appears to be the 2nd to last version 6011 Championship Edition, so probably early 1995. Still has the 'old style' spring clamps/cups, hex turnbuckles, white 8-32 nuts on the bellcranks. Black metal shock caps were supplied occasionally when AE ran out of the plastic versions, although they more than likely were installed by the owner after stripping out the original plastic parts...
The Force II motor could be original... The last last version had a DS Spec motor. The pinion gear is definitely on backwards.
Nice piece.

I also noticed that the shock nuts are white dyed black and the motor screws are phillips headed... such is the life of an RC10.

Re: Need help on what year this is.
So would ebay be my best friend to get the parts that i need to make this a nice shelf piece? my son wants to drive this bad but i have already explained to him that this is a classic r/c car and not one to bash so looks like i'm making a run to the lhs to buy another car.

Re: Need help on what year this is.
I would say get it cleaned up before shotgunning a bunch of new parts at it. It looks fairly nice and complete. The black steel parts will clean up well with a good soaking in WD40. Grab some 1/4" sized steel 4-40 nyloc nuts for the shock mounting, a 6121 Viper body (since a Protech II would be $$), and a 6182 wing.
Your LHS should be able to get you the body and wing, plus it's likely they'll have the nuts in stock.
None of these things are worth bidding on and/or paying shipping on.
