Post by vintagerctech »

I don't have the heart to tell her I actually have, lets see, 4 gt's, 4 rc10's, and 3 rc10t's.

plus my serpents, onroad.

plus my helis....

I just don't see any benefit in explaining how many cars I have, do you?

If she's an active participant in your addiction ... er, uh, hobby, then yes, you should tell her. If not, then what she doesn't know won't hurt you.

I counter with: "How many pairs of shoes do you have? You don't trip over my cars at 3:00 am trying to get the bathroom in the dark."

They don't need many, try this argument.

Wasn't a good conversation afterwards

Eeew, ouch. Been there, done that. I conveniently left out the ones still in boxes or packed away in cases waiting to be rebuilt. I still came out on the short side of that one.

This is why she now never asks me about anything I have in my shop.

That's what I just did. We bought a new house close by with a much bigger basement. I was at the new house last night supposedly cleaning and moving boxes upstairs to prepare for the upcoming move. I was actually in the basement building shelves and unpacking the workshop.
as for the rc:handbag ratio, she is slowly gaining on me. A new Dooney or Coach on her shoulder keeps her off my back

I think you guys should be happy that they want small stuff that can be put in a box in the closet. My wife wants a Kayak, which also turns into buying something to transport it, etc., etc., etc. Also, mind you, we currently live in an apartment and I have storage filled to the rim.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

I have a very understanding mom, with all the sheds my dad built sitting empty, well they were :P
Luckily it's 12 miles away, and what she can't see, as you say can't hurt me, well not too much too often
As to numbers, not enough fingers to work it out, and that's just brands.

can't you rent kayaks? tell her that you want her to get one that fits her needs well and that she should try renting all different ones to get a good fit for her size and style, that sould buy you some time?

That just prolongs the envitable, besides we just got our tax refund and she knows it's just sitting there. Not to mention the rebate check coming from the Fed and a few other things coming down the pipe line.

She is actually pretty cool with it all though. Sometimes I get a hard time, but when she wants a new pair of Oakley's (and she has a dozen of them) she knows all she has to do is make sure there is enough money in the bank when she is done to pay the piper.
He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.

She knows exactly how many cars, boats, planes and Helis I have, what am I supposed to do I have no where to hide them, but it's no problem as long as I never tell her how much they cost, she thinks you can pick 3 speeds up for $25 a piece on the bay
