New guy, Old car.

Post by trey »

Hi, new guy here. I'm trey, in the Air Force, And live in Cheyenne, WY. Always wanted an RC10 when I was younger, never had the money for one though. I had a Futaba FX10, but it didn't fill the want for one. Got my RC10 today. Took a few years! A guy at work brought it in for me to see, and I offered him some money for it. He took it, and I think I got a decent deal, and didn't have to ship it. Going to build this as a runner for now. Here are some pictures!

Welcome Trey,

Nice car...looks very "period correct". All the original parts appear to be on the car...which is becoming very rare these days.

Regards,
highwayracer

thanks guys. it does appear to be original. only prob so far is rust. anything made of steel is pretty rusty. clips, screws, little stuff like that. no biggie though.

i have a lot of research to do, never had one of these. i feel like a kid again!

Welcome aboard mate! Nice grab, you have an early production model there, do the tires have the "goodyear" writing on them?

no writing on the tires. and they arent worn enough for the writing to be worn off.

what do you guys usually do with a badly scratched chassis? I could paint it, or polish it, powder coat it, or say screw it. i think powdercoating would be too heavy/thick.

well, just got done scrubbing parts. the white parts i used warter/bleach mix, and they came pretty clean.

most of my metal parts were rusty, so i made a mix of molasses/vinegar, and they are soaking now. will be spotless by tomorrow!

got all my parts died today. used rit black, very good results.

primer for the chassis is drying now. might take a few coats to fill all the deep scratches.

those are just water spots on the chassis, not bad paint spots.

looks good so far. you might want to flip your lower shock mount around, though.
