TrackMasters were really oval-oriented trannies. Quiet, but I always thought those particular diffs had a lot of unnecessary drag in them.

Nice kit. Probably worth in the range of $65 if it was an RC10 diff, but with Losi prices in the crapper right now, I donno where that one would fall.

There's a trackmaster tread in the scan archives.

Neither of those show a losi specific tranny though.
I think it is pretty rare.

I ran my 2nd hand rc10 version and liked it very much, though I really need some fresh diffballs cuase it's real stiff now.
If I loosen it up it immediately starts acting as a slipper.

The direct drive versions are definitely oval oriented, the beltdrives are fine for buggies if you use the largest spur it will take.

Is that pretty much the same thing as the JCAR trans?

JCAR was a direct drive (no belt, no layshaft), but at some point, TrackMaster did a DD tranny, too, I believe.

i'd guess it's the same a your standard, run of the mill trackmaster. but, it has different mounts to attach to the losi chassis. i don't recall ever seeing one in a losi vehicle.

Looks very similar to the one highway posted in the other thread (reference the link) in the 12 or 13th post down on the page. The direct drive trans. I have only ever seen JCAR offer the plates in aluminum as opposed to carbon (pictured).

Do whatever makes you happy. IMO, If you're going to keep it, build it. If you are going to sell it, keep it sealed.
