Composite Craft RC10T
Here is my recently completed composite craft 10T project. It started from a truck that was pieced together with an "A" gold tub and some left over parts (pretty much all that's left now). I decided to revamp the old truck when I came across a nice CC chassis on ebay a couple of months ago. Its been drilled for the 6-gear trans by the previous owner and has some rough scratches, but is the perfect base for a runner. I went ahead and painted up a T2 body and also picked up a cheap, but trusty lrp QC2 and bolted up a freshly rebuilt reedy ultra. The rear motor plate and skid plate have had a little fat trimmed off and the front truck style bellcrank was ditched for a shorter buggy bellcrank for better leverage and less stress placed on the servo (yes, new holes had to be drilled ). I'm using Jconcepts j82 front rims and tires to simulate the old skool narrow setup and slapped some chassis protector on the bottom. Lastly, its controlled by ye 'ole faithful, my Air. 3Ps

Lookin good. Like the fact its a runner and you weren't afraid to drill holes in it . I'd still like to get my hands on one of those chassis...and yes...I like the narrow fronts too.

Very nice find; looks great!
There's another rc10t with this chassis (stealth already installed) on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-RC10T-Carbon-Fiber-Chassis-AE-Associated-T4-B4_W0QQitemZ160306197697QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item160306197697&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50.
How do those J82 tires compare with the old-school associated narrow front truck tires? Seeing your truck made me think about getting a set and rocking them on my rc10t, mounting them to my narrow front 3-piece wheels.
What are you using for chassis protection? Does it work well for you?

Re: Composite Craft RC10T
The j82 rims are about 1mm or 2 more inset than the original 3-piece rims, but barely noticeable. The j82 tires are just plain great! Soft compound and narrow setup should give it an aggressive buggy-like feel. Give it a try
For the chassis protector, I'm using the JC stuff.

Works like a charm and takes about all the scratches the chassis would. After sticking it on, just trim around the chassis and poke holes under screws so they can be re-tightened.

Thanks guys! The final touch has been added thanks to JK Racing. Proline narrow aero-dish rims wrapped with j82 groovy tires for racing.

The current Associated 4449 small 4-40 nylocs are gold now... just like the Losi ones.PBR Allstar wrote:I really like the touch of the custom works nylocs!
Nice build anyway, especially the narrow front setup.

Re: Composite Craft RC10T
I'm thinking of building something similar with a RC10 TQ graphite chassis. I realize that the double deck chassis adds some rigidity, but do you think I have to have it? If so, where can I find one?adam lancia wrote:I love double deck chassis', well done!

Re: Composite Craft RC10T
Hi vintage AE, the Composite Craft chassis is very nice and rigid, but ofcourse not always going to be necessary depending on usage (full blown vintage racer, backyard basher/crasher, or sittin pretty on the shelf). However, I can personally say that the tq10 chassis is quite flexable, even more so than the lower main composite craft chassis plate alone. I have and race both types of chassis- sometimes I worry about casing a jump at the track or hitting something awkwardly in the backyard and other times I say to heck with it and just send it flying lol. Since you already have a tq10 chassis, I suggest just building it up normally without a double deck, unless you've got some cool plan brewing, then by all means go for it! As for finding the double deck chassis and parts, ebay..... ebay..... ebay..... or if you're lucky, sometimes one might pop up in the bst.
Narrow truck fronts FTW!!!!! Thanks guys

I do have something planned for it I have an A&L tall front shock tower and just won a complete set of front and back 10T ends with RPM arms, which also included all the wheels and steering assembly. Everything only cost me ~$50 before shipping so far. I'm going to put a vintage goldpan body on it, some sand paws on the back and use it as a tricked out beach buggy. It will likely see some jumps along the way too, which is why I asked about the double deck...I will keep my eyes open for one on ebay. I'll will try and water proof the electronics some how as well.
cheers
