That is not what I remember???

Post by littlescreamers »

OK

Was just dosing on the couch and was thinking of the 4X4 conversion for the RC10

Now I do not remember the belt drive version?? I first seen the conversion in Texas 85-86-87? was a flex shaft coming off the tranny and going to the front drive!

Anyone else remember this conversion.

Scott

Yeah, the 4-10 was a belt-drive conversion in the early 90s. Plenty of discussions on it here, and I think the manual is in the Scans section.

Yes- the original 4wd kit had a flex shaft in a tube (like a Dremel flexible extension) that went outside the body. They caught on everything because you couldn't kink the tube enough to keep it in tight.

Thanks scr8p-- I'm at work and I couldn't search for the pics.

Cable drive, did somebody say cable drive? All I have left from the cable days is this front gearbox. Note the square drive in the center of the top gear. The funky part was the front driveshafts. Or should I say hooks. Wire hooks that were bent in a loop to go through holes at the ends of the outdrives. I guess they worked alright. Check out the top of the box. On the right it says "new chain drive system" and on the left the sticker says "new belt conversion", make up your mind!. I also have an older box for chain drive with no car on the boxcover, only text. I remember seeing a Super Champ conversion in a hobby shop once with the cable drive also.
