Homebrew Tracks

Post by floodx »

Anybody got pics of homebrew tracks?

I am currently working on my own down (like 40 ft down a mountain side) near a creek bed behind my house in WV. Not very big and likely cannot run more than 2 cars at a time on it but much better than running on the narrow street. I will say the elevation changes are pretty cool - one corner is a drifter corner - only way you can make it around with a 2wd.

EDIT: finally got a pic - a little woodsy and you gotta watch out for the poison ivy and the sewer runs under the creek. But other than that a lot of fun. I have hit that sapling at least 20 times.

I had one when I was a kid. My parents left for work one day and came home to find that me and my next door neighbor had used hoes and carefully (hoe'd) tore up the grass in a rectangle about 50x75. I spent the summer building a scaled copy of the track I raced at so I could practice the course. I even made a drivers stand out of cinder blocks and plywood. Where I am now has a good amount of space behind the property that belongs to the water company and I've been thinking about at LEAST putting in a dirt oval.

Can't see it in the pics but a raised sewer manhole makes a great (albeit one person) driver stand.

He is our track that we and the neighbor's built up back. Not too big and no real driver stand, but for what we do it's fun!

Sweet - pretty cool track - get some air off the roots...

Since I have posted my pics it has rained every other day. Ready to rehab and run again if I can get day or two of sun to dry it out.
