Rc12e...It is original?

Post by 02021985Leo »

:D Hello everyone ... I'm Andrea ... I'm a model car driver and recently I'm passionate about Vintage ... I bought a model from a friend ... it should be a rc12e ... but I do not know if all the parts are original ... There are also other parts ... they look like two versions ...
You can give me confirmation ... Thank you very much

Lower chassis looks stock but has been drilled out
Upper lexan chassis is homemade
Front arms- stock had no springs. They had no springs up until the first revision of the 12i, so 12e never came with it
The ball diff was not sold with the majority of the 12e, but was on a couple releases of the 12e
The radio plate shown at the end could be (same shape/style) an original from the late lightweight cars but has been drilled and modified.

Thanks GoMachV of the answers ... you have been very exhaustive ... In fact, the car should be a rc12e with some changes, because in the parts I found the front arms without springs (in the spare parts picture you see) and those should be the originals ... As for the radio plate, it seems to be original and above there is an inscription engraved in more points 19av, do you know what it is?

G-10 fiberglass sometimes had logos embedded. I have never seen associated material have this, which is why I believe that is a copy of a lightweight radio plate. Here is an original for reference taken from my personal kit:

I agree with GomachV. When these cars were in use, the hobby was still very much alive with true diy hobbyists. Home made chassis plates for 12e and 12i cars are common finds. As GomachV pointed out, the label on the fiberglass plate shows it was not original. There was mail order but nothing close to the internet back then, so if you needed a part, it was usually easier to just make it yourself. I have come across a few like this. Some have such good workmanship on the machining, that you would never know it wasn't original if it wasn't for the logos in the fiberglass sheet. Different hobby these days. Now your lucky to find a kid who can place the decals straight on their new rtr.

I think the steering servo placement is also not how the model was originally designed. The two servos are usually placed on the servo tray and there is a servo saver mechanism between servo and steering linkage.
