original, original, original RC10T tires from the ad.

Post by atarit3 »

Hey Fellas,

I have this question, and it may have been asked before; did AE ever make the original tires for the kit, the RC10T team car that is shown on the box art and in the ads at the time (see pic).

Every rebuild of the original I see has the ribbed/ nubbed tires, so I assume by the time the kit hit the market, the tire had been changed.

anyone know for sure?

Also, on the original picture the front grill and headlights are painted, correct?

thanks!

The AD truck has the Pro-45 fronts, and the Pro-90 rears-( both smooth side walled ) as does the early manual and it is suspected that the early 7001 truck came with them- I had one when I was a kid and it came with the other 76-- tires, I have some of the Pro-45's and the Pro-90's new if you need images-

wow!

those nubbed tires have that weird outer edge I've never noticed from the picture before.

I have a pro-97 set of tires from my T3, but of course they had the molded lettering on the sides, which yours do not.

wow, rare.

The 10t's really don't garner any attention for the most part, but if you like to collect them that's not such a bad thing

yea I dig the truck more than the RC10 itself. the first RC magazine I ever got is the one pictured above, so I blame that photo more than any other for getting me into RC. Sentimental value. I'm gonna have my family bury me with that mag, and that truck if I can find it :).
