Virtual Reality RC Racing and the future of our hobby

Who needs a real track when a virtual one will do? There is a new game called RC Rush which raises some questions about the future of RC.

Judging by how busy the LHS is and how fast online places sell out, I'd say no.

If anything, it might be a gateway for a gamer to jump from VR.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

That reminds me of Mario Kart and Stunt Race FX.

It doesn't capture the true essence of RC in my opinion.



Now if someone made an updated version of Radio Control Racers that would be an awesome game! The original was a perfect blend of RC and Arcade in my opinion.

Interesting. RC Pro Am on NES was awesome. Super Sprint on NES I still consider to be one of the purest racing games ever though. Simple and perfectly competitive.

I'd love to travel back in time to a Saturday night there and race whatever bastardized oval version of my TQ10 I was running that night. I configured that car about every way possible! Nearly failed high school modifying that car. :lol:

Its basically a racing sim for RC complete with digitized versions of popular tracks. It lets you get practice laps in when you can't make it to a track.

I think there's always been a type of person that goes and does stuff and another who is happy with simulated stuff. The game looks fun but I want to build something I can hold in my hand and take outside, tinker with etc.
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.

Well, why limit to RC if you can do more serious stuff?

While I love virtual races on tracks and cars which would be scale 1/1, I've never been catched by RC racing games... I can't find any interest to virtualize something I can do in my garden...
I buy kits to build and ru(i)n them :-)

Heck yeah. Back in 2013 I spent hours checking to see what NES game domain names were still available for registration. Much to my surprise, one of the very few available at the time was rcproam.com so I immediately snagged it. Now it brings you here. Quite fitting really.

On another note, not too long ago I was looking into making my own R/C'esq racing game. There's various video game making software out there to give you a base to build from. I ultimately decided I don't have the time whatsoever to even think about starting yet another project. :roll:

I always wanted a Super Sprint reboot that let you design your own tracks. The format is so simple that it seems very plausible.

That looks like a very serious workstation. :) Looks like you put a lot of work into it. Actually, I would argue that top RC drivers are probably phenomenal at RC racing games or racing games in general. They require the same skillset and depth perception.

My garden "track" is far from being finalized, it has a variable geometry at this stage (although I'm finalising it), and I still need to find a way to create removable bumps so we can still maintain the area...
