Well, it's been a few months since our precious Louie left us, so time for a new four-legged bundle of bark.

This is Rudy, a 2 1/2 year old Kelpie.

We adopted him from a home where he was pretty much locked outside all day, and locked in the laundry all night, with NOTHING in between. This photo is how he was when he arrived last month..... 'wiry' would be a good description!

Since arriving, he has enjoyed hot and cold running food, two walks a day most days, endless attention, and our bed to sleep on.... so he's coming along just fine.

Maybe a little too 'fine'.....

We've already managed to put a couple of kgs on to his undernourished frame, which is good..... and training is ongoing. Very smart dogs, Kelipes... knows just who to push, and how, to get more food

Work starts on being able to leave him alone in the house in the coming weeks..... wish us luck!

Reminds me of Libby. She was bouncing off the walls for the first week or two after the shelter. Eventually she settled in and now she knows she is home.
Anyway, very happy Rudy has also found a good home.

Handsome lad ! Double prick eared means a very full on dog ! Best of luck and patience with leaving him alone , I'm sure you know what your doing but going out for just a few min at a time and slowly stretching it , often while there's food down is the way to go .

Our previous household monster, Louie, came to us with Separation Anxiety issues, so we're well aware of what it's like to not be able to go anywhere together, without arranging a 'sitter' . Now that Rudy's been with us a month, we are hoping to start the process of weaning him off needing to be on top of us 24/7. Going to take a bit of time, but we need to do it, as the missus was pretty much a prisoner at home for the three years we had Louie.

Our Audrey passed away tonight. We were getting ready for bed, going out to potty. She turned around to come back in and stood in front of my wife and just passed out. Couldn't get he breathing again. Took her to the emergency vet, but she was gone. Having her cremated.

Oh Jeff my heat goes out to you and your family , sounds like it was quick though , nothing feels quite like losing a dog , so sorry for your loss , god speed Audrey .

I'm so very sorry for your loss Jeff.
Reading this takes me right back to when we lost our precious Sadie nearly two years ago. Losing our furry companions is tough.
I know that you and wife gave Audrey a very good home and on behalf of all dog lovers everywhere, we thank you.
