I'm working from my phone so I'm having trouble using code.

Also if you look on that website they have a super thin clear adhesive backed paper you can put on top to that get that factory shine.

Thanks durb! I've already commited to my Jagermeister theme for this one,but I'll be trying that out for sure on my other projects. Hard to find off the shelf stickers for 1/12. Your car certainly turned out nice! Awesome work on that baby!

Here is where I'm at so far. These are really crappy photos but I've still got a long ways to go anyway. Better photos will come later.

Comments and critique welcome. Still have more stickers and details to add. The wing will be stripped and repainted tomorrow. Photos came out poor like my others so I just threw a bunch out there.

Looks great - clean and simple as it should be for a Jager car.

Awesome resto! I like the videos and the mechanical speed control in action. Very well done!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm still working on the wing. It's hard to get good coverage with Fasorange over a primered surface so I'm slowly adding coats to it. Once I've got good coverage I'll wet sand it carefully and then seal it in several more coats of gloss. Probably start on the final mechanical updates while I wait for the wing to dry.

I automatically thought of Jager the first time I saw the car. It's that orange paint! I got lucky on those stickers too cause they're from the Tamiya replacement body set in 1/12 and those are hard to find anymore. You can still find the decal versions ,but those tend to be too transparent over dark colors.

I was wondering where you got the stickers from! As usual, fantastic! Now how is the driver looking?

Thanks Rod! I'm having a hard time convincing myself to grind up that driver. Was thinking I might save him for a scale model. I'm still thinking about it though.

Wing with first coats of paint on it. Still lots more to do before the clear can be sprayed. The wing is not perfect and probably never was. I won't replace it though as it's an original part and adds character to the car. Probably trim the number roundel on the nose. I've got an idea for adding details using some vinyl stickers I have. Hopefully it will work out like I want it to.

I've got NOS Futaba servos for her now and may replace the reciver with this new one too. Also have correct resistor mounts and tie rods. Lots of work to do!

Re: Rusty RC12E Resto-- Almost Done!

Post by PlastiZapCA+ »

Nearly at the finish line! :D Just need to finish the decals on the body and this car is done.

Since I caught heat for having non vintage servos I've gone and rebuilt the entire chassis. Now I have all NOS vintage Futaba radio gear. I've also got the correct Associated 05 stock closed end bell motor and NOS Associated tie rods. The wing is also done and mounted up. I hope you will approve of my efforts.
