I know for a fact that at least 5 of our guys at RCHR are running classics class entries...
Nope, retired the Frog....

Somebody else's turn in Classic. I will enjoy watching however!

Erich might want to think about adding a beginners class, it would make it more fun for some of the kids that are going to race.

If you could compare its build quality and performance ability to a Kyosho Icarus or a Tamiya Hornet, that is the intent of the Classics class. What actually goes in that class will remain to be seen.

I'd like to see the "classic class" full of old less racer-like vehicles. Maybe your Icarus or Pegasus would never win a race against a JRX2 or RC-10 but its still neat to see 25 year old designs running against similiar vehicles for a win.

That's why I ran a Grasshopper as I think that's the main point of the class. Last year felt like more of a 'how close can I get to the cutoff date in order to have the better performing buggy' event, rather than what I felt was the spirit of the first year. To each his own, the rules are there and I'll play by them. ;)
I'm still going to bring my 1980s gear to a 1994 party.

I kinda felt the same way. That's okay though, I'm still going to play by the old school rules. To me this is one of those times that winning the race isn't the main goal.

1. The discussion over buggies converted into trucks racing in stadium truck or monster has been pretty funny, since it seems some people have forgotten that the Blackfoot is a truck converted from the Frog buggy! Going by the "converted RC10's goto stadium truck" rule, Blackfoots would too! Ha Ha Ha.

I would think if its a big truck with big crappy handling Terra-tread tires on it, it would be heavy metal, where a slim, lean, current soft compound tire truck would be stadium truck.

2. Can anybody out there tell me which brushed stock motor from the vintage era would be the best one and why? Hint: It's not a pink can w/40 degrees timing.

3. Erich, we need to come up with sloution to the newer advanced timing brushless speed controls. Tamiya handout motors would be a good solution as all the brushless speed controls can run brushed motors too.

Not sure I agree about the point that a Blackfoot should race against a converted RC10T because it's based on a buggy chassis. There are no Frogs racing against RC10s in the buggy class, so that comparison seems void to me. I agree about the terra tire vs race tire thing, I think that is a great way to distinguish monster trucks from stadium trucks.

I'm all for the hand out silver cans!

I cannot stand idly by and watch fun and r/c happen at the same time.

Great point. It is cool to see some of those early pics with a whole line up of different machines in one race. Kind of run what you brung. Frogs, RC10s, Hornets, Maruis, etc. When I first got into r/c, I had a Fox and my buddy had a Grasshopper. The Fox felt like a rocket ship compared to the Grasshopper, but we were both horrible drivers so it didn't really matter, we had a blast racing them together.
