Vintage aluminum wheels come in a 3/16 or are they all 1/4?

Post by burnsmonkey »

So I am converting this RC10T im building to 3/16 but I want to eventually breakdown and get some aluminum wheels. Would it benefit me to run 3/16 or should I just stick with 1/4 because I want to run maybe vintage aluminum wheels?

most (if not all) old school aluminum wheels for a 10t would be 1/4".

So from your interpretation I should own a set of 1/4 carriers, bearings, cvds then a set of 3/16 carriers, bearings, and cvd's? Thats what I hear!

the carriers are the same, whether your using 3/16" or 1/4" axles. just use the correct size bearings.

They're not vintage or old school, but these folks have truck rims that fit 3/16" axles:

I haven't tried them myself, so I can't speak for the quality or fit. I just ran across them whilst surfing.

Thats not bad a price, I expected to pay at least $100 for a nice set of aluminum wheels.
