COX 'BANDIDO'

Post by Bormac »

Many years ago I almost considered buying this car purely from an advertisment clipping I had glued into my scrap book when i was a young teen.
I was saving up for my first real r/c buggy (Kyosho OPTIMA) and kinda glad i held it out.
Years later Ive seen these cars come up on ebay and forums but until seeing BESTY's Bandido running on the beach a while back I wouldn't have given it a second thought.
Anyway a very good score on ebay saw a nib kit sent my way from an international seller and Ive been thinking of building this thing up into a brushless beach runner.
Today I got this car finished off and am looking forward to kicking up some sand with the 3750kv motor and 5000 lipo I have fitted.

you know, i had a couple of these and i just couldn't get into it. I guess as a low cost alternative to tearing up your nice stuff they would make a great beach basher. Even then, I'd hate to tear up a brand new one. :)

Jason,

In the realms of dorkdom..... nah. Too easy.

Besides... if I want ugly, basic, and weird, I'll go a Schuey Wildcat, thanks...

Now, where's that.... oh yeah.... :P

this is one of the cars i had back in the day. i always wondered what it was called. i think it would be pretty fast with a brushless set up, but i think this car had the plastic drive shafts?

Yep. These little cars get moving alright with a brushless.
They do have plastic shafts which do wear out if you leave the rear as standard.
I installed some screws to lower the rear end which levels the shafts a bit.
That helped a lot. Also the parts are dirt cheap.
I thought my car needed a gearbox rebuild but it was the tyres ballooning and hitting the lexan body
