Futaba Magnum PCM 1024 FP-T3PB to 2.4GHz

Post by drbelleville »

So its been a long time, as some of you may or may not know its my favorite radio. While cleaning up today, I found an old Spektrum Transmitter and Receiver Module set. So I charged the old radio and receiver packs, popped in the module, put the receiver in the car, and fired everything up. Result - it works.

So if you have an old PCM FP-T3PB you can use the following Spektrum items to "Convert" to 2.4GHz

SM1000 (Futaba - Hitec) Transmitter Module

SR3000 Receiver

Send me a PM, and I can send a video - it is too large to upload.

!!!!AS A NOTE OF CAUTION!!!! I have not driven the car yet to see how it works, but I will try and put something together (not the 1:8 Chassis) and give it a try.

I have a 1024 is pretty good condition hiding in my garage :) , I would do this in a heart beat, but I have been spoiled by modern radios with multiple model memory. I remember the days of taking 3 cars and transmitters to the track, walk up to the stand to race and have the wrong radio in hand :(

Alright it works, I pieced together an RC10L ss (which some may have noted is in the bay) and it works with no issues. I used a standard Futaba Servo and the Tekin 412p. Car ran no issues, the range was what is to be expected at the track, I did not push the limits by driving "out of reasonable sight".

Any questions please drop a line.
