My RC10 Worlds Project Runner

Post by mdutcher »

Hey all...

Here is my (new to me) Worlds rolling chassis. This was my first real RC back in the day and have regretted ever letting it go. However, I was able to get one again and thus my project car for this time in my life. Always been a Team Associated fan and particularly the RC10 platform.

It is my intention to make this car a runner. I will try and post some pics of my journey over the next little bit.

I also have some questions or want some advice on how to proceed with the rear end portion.

Without further ado, here are some pics.....

And now for my questions.... as you can tell, the wheels are current style B4 wheels. However, the offset is pretty much flush with the outboard side of the rim. As a result, I can tell that the inner side of the tire will rub the shock.

RPM hubs are currently installed with B4 MIP CVD's. And this leads me to another possible issue. You can see that the CVD within the tranny upon compression will reach the inner most part of the diff. This might pose a problem when running. I have some spare B4 hubs which looked like they would work. I installed one side and tried to see if it would fix the B4 wheel clearance issue and it did! However, the B4 CVD was now too short and did not reach the diff.

What are my options here? If I use the RPM hub, than I will have to use RC10 wheels, which I do have a set. However, if I am able to use B4 wheels, than my options are greater as far as availability. But I would have to use a longer CVD. What CVD would work with the B4 rear hubs? What CVD choice do I have with the standard RPM hub?

And now my final question, which is regarding the nose.... As you can tell, the nose has been modified with the RPM nose bumper. As a result, the nose tubies are not installed just yet. It would seem that this is not a direct fit as the nose is a little narrower and there would have to be some bend in the tubes for it to run from the chassis, through the shock tower and than bend to meet the nose. What are my options here?? This how I got the roller. Please feel free to elaborate and share your opinion.

And if anything, please let me know what you think about my little runner project.

Upcoming, the body is currently being painted.... nothing too fancy as it is being done by myself.

Electronics are coming for it.... Spektrum servo and I am going to start it off with a brushless Castle Creations Sidewinder system with a 3800kv motor.

Next down the road is to possibly mess with the shocks and look at other options there.

Enjoy the pictures for now though!

on the front, you need to get a 10t/gt front bulkhead so you have a place to attach the nose brace tubes.

on the back, you need a pair of b4 axle/wheel spacers and a pair of custom works .125 wheel spacers.

Where can I find the items for the rear?

Scratch the wheel spacer question.... I have those. what about the custom works wheel spacers though?? And where does that go on the rear as I am trying to visualize it??

Thanks!

Cool! Thank you!

I bought it from a guy by the name of Jim in Texas. Do you know some history of it??

Also, I posted a link above to an eBay ad for the front bulkhead.... will that work for what I am needing as per your advice??

Yes that's the proper bulkhead. Then you should be able to use standard truck nose brace tubes.

You may need the hinge pin brace too, I don't see one on yours

Would this be the same one as for the B4? Or as the rc10 gt?

you can't use those with the worlds/dynotech arms. i use them as a brace on my cars, but not where it's designed to be.

i guess you could use it at the hinge pin, but you'll have to clearance the arms for it.

Ahh right on. I figured everything with that bulkhead used them.
