Post pics and share info about your home built RC cars.

Post by RC10th »

I couldn't find anything on this so I thought I'd make a post about it.

Please share info and post pictures of your custom home built RC cars, preferably complete cars with tires and body. I'm not talking about modified "stock" vehicles using aftermarket parts but rather home made cars.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

I guess this depends on your particular definition of "stock" and "aftermarket" and "home made"...what do you mean by "home made cars"?

I'd say yes! My CYANide and Barney projects, and OptiMutt car, all began with a "stock" frame, to which I added numerous fabricated parts, aftermarket parts from various sources including off-brand parts, a ton of re-engineering...but does that count as "home made"?

Here's a funny one I bought a while back. Someone's old home built car.
Chain drive, no suspension, aircraft front tires, etc...
I repeat, I bought this, IT'S NOT MY FAULT.

I was going to clean it up a little and leave it as is. I've got a new copy of that body and new tires and wheels for it. However the more I look at it and the chain drive set up, the more I want to turn it into a puller... you know, because I don't have enough projects...

Here's one I scratch built. Most people have probably seen these pics by now, but here it is again. I designed and built my own chassis to fit the Tamiya Wheelie Bus body.

The front end on that chain drive car is from an old RC100. Possibly the chassis and rear axle mounts too. Cool if you ask me 8)

The front axle for sure. Did any of the RC100's come with a rectangular chassis? The only ones Ive seen taper in the center. Who knows what parts are on this thing!
The hand made wooden rear body mount was broken when I got it sadly.

 I had no idea. I figured the only Associated part was the front axle. Interesting! D*** I just feel bad for this car now...
