Gas buggy

Post by romulus22 »

Not what you expected right......

I built one of these when I was much younger. Have wanted to build another for a while but other cars took priority. I finally got it to a point where I consider it ready to view. More parts to arrive but its pretty close. The hardest thing I have ahead of me is paint.

Enough boring talk enjoy the pictures.

All fits together so nice that it makes one wonder why AE never did an RC10GB. :)

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

I remember when nitro trucks were introduced, Kyosho had the ultima i believe and traxxas had released the nitro hawk (i had that one).

The class became very popular and Associated was late in the game. There were several electric to nitro conversions for the RC10T but nothing official from Associated, this i remember as i was eagerly awaiting the GT's release.

I assume that since 1:10 scale nitro buggies were not a popular class back then that associated never bothered making an RC10GB.

The buggy class was dominated by the 1:8 scalers.

Im paying close attention to this thread. Im not a buggy guy but i would be willing to convert one of the GT's i have into a working buggy just to have.

Great work Todd...progress is coming along and everything is falling into place!

Still no new parts added. Just paint. I tried doing something different but I really messed it up so the front half got a coat of black on the outside to hide it. Oh well, ill stick to letting someone who knows what they're doing paint them for me. I also HATE how small the side windows are on the viper body, so I made them larger than normal. But the window frame on the bottom is really visible. Oh well.......

Very nice! Are you going to have to make any custom parts or all oem? I would love to see pics of the chassis from above!

I wonder why AE never made this?

Because I'm using an electric bulkhead ill be making a custom trans brace. But using the electric bulkhead allowed me to use the stock tower, wing tubes, and factory length shocks. Only other thing I've had to modify so far was the stock exhaust hanger, and tap the rear or front, can't remember, screw hole in the buggy nose plate. Ill take an overhead picture later and post up. Was saving that till the chassis was more complete but ill post up.
