I would just paint the hood on the real car something different to make the RC project easier.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 6:14 pm The matt black part would be the tough one, unless you did it on the exterior.

Re: Storm 2000 wheels
The Menace rear and Cougar front wheels arrived. The LHS has the Pinto body in stock, so I may be able to test fit it soon. The wheelbase Proline advertises for the body is just a 1/4 inch or so off of my measurement, so that should be doable. Mickey Thompson (and others) ran Pinto bodied funny cars with the front wheels moved forward. Aesthetically, it may work better as a FC than as a Pro Stocker.
Still keeping my options open, though. With the tall shock towers, it would be really easy to configure it to sit low, almost pan car low. It would have to be fast on the carpet oval.

Re: Storm 2000 wheels
I have a set of potential front truck wheels on the way from Jeff. I will need a different bearing to fit them, but have verified they are available and cheap.

Re: Storm 2000 wheels
Just to close this out, on the 1 in a billion chance someone else ever needs Storm 2000 wheels
The wheels from Jeff are actually a pretty decent color match for the Menace rear wheels. Both wheels are somewhere between white and yellow. The A&L are just a tad bit more yellow. I don't think it will be noticeable with tires and a painted body. The front track is wider in the photo, but the Storm's front arms have an inner and an outer hole for the outboard hinge pins, so there is already a provision for adjusting the front track width.
The 4x11x4 bearings fit the wheel and the axle perfectly. I am sure they are not "quality" bearings, but you get 20 for $8, so....
I also have a set of Cougar 2000 wheels and bearings, as those are still available from Schumacher.
