My Cougar Project
My Cougar Project
inspired by so many great threads here and the fact that I want to build something Schumacher to run against all these RC-10 re-releases I'm sure will be coming out to play, I've started to gather parts for my own Cougar build.
so, I have a large pile of Schumacher parts, which I went through this week.
Mostly, new in packet, but a fair amount of used as well, so I've sorted through those and pulled out all the Cougar bits :

Re: My Cougar Project
I'm now just on the lookout for a fairly complete car, very hard to find in Canada I'm discovering
and postage from UK is becoming horribly expensive..
I'm also looking for a decal set and a body.
I'm looking at the Team Blue Groove bodies, and they also make an undertray, which I think I will pickup to save my new chassis getting too beat up !

Looking good! Best of luck, any questions ask away
Penguin rc body's on uk e bay do a range of cougar shells
But as your in Canada TBG will be a good option for postage costs

If in doubt go flat out!
Re: My Cougar Project
I just did a deal for some B4 shocks, so that should work !
And bought a set of bearings from BOCA, cheap and free shipping.
as for the decals, I did already talk to Myles about those ones.
Although I'm not sure how many of that sheet I would actually use as this will be a racer, not a shelf queen

Re: My Cougar Project
That's great, I was wondering how good of a fit they were, sounds like a worthwhile purchase.8rad wrote:Hehe.......I sent him my chassis to pull those undertrays. I have a works gear cover I was going to send them to reproduce, but they are not accepting anything right now.
Re: My Cougar Project
So, I just managed to win a nice looking Cougar 2 on eBay that comes with a ton of parts.
Will update more pics when it arrives, then to really start the build!

Re: My Cougar Project
Hi ya Stu. I haven't seen you up here in a while. You may be aware that I am a bit of a fan of the Cougar cars. I had my lexan gear cover repro'd a while back by a mate here in Aus. While the forms are great they do come out a little smaller in dimension due to the process. This means no big spur gears.
I'd say those lexan alloy pan covers would be a good thing especially for the ano'd chassis pans.

Re: My Cougar Project
hey Jason,
I was hoping to hear from you.
I still collect Schumacher just as much, right now I'm racing an SVR and a K1, so still a big time fan.
I just wanted to build a retro racer as lots of guys where I live have been talking about building the RC-10 classic to race a spec class.
something like spec tires, and maybe 13.5 blinky setup.
I will need a couple of things though, so I'll pm you !

Re: My Cougar Project
found out I have a ballraced steering in my pile of parts, although missing one of the tiny ballraces..
need to pick through my gearboxes and parts to see if I can build one nice one.
I love the look of those JC Rims some of you guys are using, they still available?

I was just looking at these 2bodies, and with shipping there's actually less than a dollar difference.Headling wrote:Looking good! Best of luck, any questions ask away

Re: My Cougar Project
Hi Stu.
Many years ago I sent my genuine OEM Cougar2 shell to Kamtec in the UK for reproduction. He did a really good job of it with top quality lexan and I know for certain it was done from a genuine OEM shell. Essentially I know that a repro of a repro is not the best way to go. I'm not saying that either TBG or Penguin's molds are this but this was a rare shell when I found it so I won't be taking any chances. For me it will always be the Kamtec.
