RC10GT Refresh
First off I must give Todd (romulus22) a huge thanks for giving me the opportunity to own such an amazing RC10GT.
This truck doesn't need anything to look pretty on the shelf. I wanted to freshen it up and give it that like new appearance, tidying up a few small things. So far I've collected all the parts to give it a birthday except bellcranks. It won't be as nice as Todds box art but then again I don't think anything will.
Here it is as received before the teardown, all I've done so far is clean and condition the front tires. The rears will be replaced with Pro-90's

Re: RC10GT Refresh
I had already forgotten what this truck looked like. I wish I had the rest of the decals for the rockers and the larger Team Associated for the hood. I can't remember what happened to the pro 90 rears that came with that truck. I think that is the one that came with street tires glued on the original rear wheels.
Glad to see it in a collectors hands instead of being trashed.

Re: RC10GT Refresh
This is the worst part of any build, the cleaning. It has been completely torn apart and time to start prepping everything for assembly.

Re: RC10GT Refresh
I've now got enough nice parts to build a killer truck. Although I didn't want to I think I'm going to peroxide a couple of the most yellowed nylon parts to restore it to like new. This is a slow process as I only use a 3% solution since it's gentle on the nylon and wont over whiten the parts, I personally don't like stark white parts.

Re: RC10GT Refresh
Ha ha, I must give Dave full credit for finding the pro 90's. He popped in and asked if I was looking for anything, I said I've been looking for Pro-90's for a long time. Dave leaves and then rings me no more then 10 minutes later saying he found some. I thought no way, surely not and described them. Dave buys them and what seems like less than a week they arrive. Sure enough they're the right ones.
Thanks Dave.

Re: RC10GT Refresh
Glad to help mate!
I have to say I was actually sorry to see them go!
I'm very happy though with the Andys arms that I got from you for my CE rebuild.
Can't wait to see some progress.
Cheers, DaveM.

Re: RC10GT Refresh
I'd like to see some progress too
I'm debating how to clean the thread holes in the nylon. I'm having second thoughts about peroxiding the nylon on this one. It's ever so slightly yellow but not too bad, so I'm tempted just to leave it the way it is.
Natural beauty or fake - that is the question ?

Re: RC10GT Refresh
Hi RJ,
I am pretty sure I let you know what my ideas are after I saw it for the first time.
She's bloody beautiful already!
Can't wait to see it finished.
Dave.
