First Run After Refresh

I just got done refreshing my original 1988 RC10. Built it originally when I was 10. I have kept it kinda up to date up to 1994 and then just last month got it out. Almost 28 years sitting in storage. OH boy I feel old. So I had to rebuild a few things in the tranny, replace idler gears and outdrives. The outdrives were really bad, I have not seen anything that bad anywhere else... So its an original 6gear tranny. Many other original parts. The rear a arms are new (in 1994) and the front end is an RMP world front end (Again from 1994). I put all new electronics in it with a castle sct sidewinder 1410 3800kv. It runs REALLY nice and fast. The 6 Gear held up on the first run. I am going to take it to the track next week.

Very nice! Since it's going to be a runner, have you considered doing the outdrive bearing mod?

Actually I have outdrive bearings but I did not do the full mod. I considered it but was not sure how much of a difference it makes. Do you have a feel for that?

What part didn't you do? The sleeves between the outdrive gear and the bearings? Or something else?

There are a couple ways to do it. I prefer the other method.

I just added the outdrive bearings. I did not do the inner sleeve.

Do the outdrive still have the smaller bearings inside them? If so, then I think the spacer is less important.

Yes the inside bearings are still there. I added the outdrive because I read a post saying that the support is needed if I put a brushless motor in it. It seemed legit to me to do that.
