Very cool. Jeff, FYI, there are some modified Lazer ZX-S towers that Todd and I worked on, so I assume you have those files from him. They include extra camber link holes for high grip tracks as well as extra shock holes. I don't think Todd ever had them on eBay, but he made a few sets for me and I ...
It's a lot of money for a poor man's Lazer with less tunability, but then again, OG vintage 4wd buggy prices are mostly insane now. Still a nice chassis, though, and there were several Optima Mids at VONATs this year. Probably your best bet for a vintage 4wd buggy that's fast, durable, and has parts...
It was a great time and definitely great to see everyone there. Basically wasted all of Friday open practice trying to go fast without traction compound, then gave in at the last minute and bought some from the shop. The new surface definitely took some adjusting to. The layout was mostly okay, but ...
I am seriously worried about the track at RCE. I think it is a brutal obstacle course. It's brutal with my RC10 B6.1. But at least the B6.1 is a lot less likely to break. Last year's triple sucked the fun out of the VONATS for me. Standing on the sidelines with a broken car was not fun. I hope to g...
I hope they follow through on this. YZ10 prices have gotten insane and it'll be great to have a supply of harder-to-find parts which don't cost my soul. Some things on my wish list for an 870 re-re: 1.) Slotted rear bulkhead mounting holes on the chassis. The Works models had this and it is crucial ...
There are some updates to the Classic rules as well. Erich should post an update on that here, if he can be bothered to ;) Also, FYI, RCE's surfaces has been "sealed" from what I understand. Apparently, clay slicks are the tire of choice now. Might want to still bring any tires you ran las...
Very nice build! I'm "the youtube guy," by the way ;) Nice to meet you! Thanks for making the restoration and build videos, I watched everyone of them! On the ZXS Facebook group you'd be RV right, going by your initials? I'm the one posting up Kyosho Catalog pages of the ZX-S and ZX-S Evo...

The triple looks a lot less painful than the backstretch doubles last year. I could never get a good handle on them and just beat the hell out of my car in the process.
Yeah, it's just a double-single. Not a problem at all.
Last year's layout separated the man-boys from the man-babies.
Looks totally doable with 10.5. If everybody else is double, single jumping it, then I will double, single it. Otherwise if you try to triple, you just end up driving up the back of someone else's car that is slow to double or land on someone's car that is slow landing the single, which risks break...
Here's a good FPV of a 4wd buggy race on the current layout. Nice technical layout and nothing too dangerous for vintage. The middle triple is pretty long, though, so it remains to be seen whether that can be cleared consistently with a 10.5 motor. Maybe with the right boost profile to get lots of l...

I called R/C Excitement the other day to ask about track layout - they said the track will not change from those most recent videos on Facebook, that will be our layout for VONats.
The more recent videos on their FB page looks like a normal off road track. They made a post recently about modifying the track to accommodate oval and off-road, but it kind of sounded like that won't happen right away. My bet/hope is they do that after VONATS, when the indoor season actually starts.
