.....and then there's my SIG below...DOH!!!
Ive never had a problem with anyone's collection or how they go about keeping or building it. I have no real point to make here as we are all in it for the love of the hobby/sport. I dont care to pass judgement on others for how he or she wants to drive or display their collection. After selling a few of my cars I have looked back and wished I had the balls to drive a few of them but will most likely never get the chance again. To be honest I dont even have the time to drive even 5% of my collection with many new builts still sitting in boxes, kitted out with modern electrics and the tyres have never seen the ground. I will say though that ive been fortunate enough in the past to drive and race some great old buggies at vintage meets and on the odd occassion practice days.Guys dont take offence to my SIG,its a joke honestly but for those who may need a little inspiration I'll post some pics of the cars Ive had a ball with.

A Voltaire quote huh?

No, Evelyn Beatrice Hall. ;)
Ah, well you learn something new everyday...
Wikipedia wrote:Evelyn Beatrice Hall, (1868 - 1919), who wrote under the pseudonym S.G. Tallentyre, was a writer best known for her biography of Voltaire. She completed her biography of Voltaire The Friends of Voltaire in 1906. She wrote the phrase, which is often mis-attributed to Voltaire, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," as an illustration of Voltaire's beliefs.

Jeeez Jase -

The Samurai, Viper and Lazer were in fact new built - the meeting was a great chance to run the oldies.

To each their own - I am just happy to share the love - without being made to feel like I am under pressure to "perform" to others standards.

GREAT TOPIC!

Cheers

scr8p wrote:i could understand someone making their "shelfer" comments to someone that has like 2 cars, and doesn't use either one.
This is almost me. I have exactly 4 buggies. 1 mint 6010, 1 mint Jrx2, my original Fox from bitd and my RC10 Scorpion. Of those 4, the only one that is a "runner" is my RC10 Scorpion. Although I haven't actually "ran" it yet, other than around my kitchen. Now then, about the shelfer comments. I don't care what people say about me or my cars. Who's really stupid enough to run a mint 6010?? I am. I had one and ran it. 5 years ago, when you could pick up another one for $125. So I got another one and kept it on the shelf. That and the Jrx2 are mint and I plan to keep them that way. If I want to run cars, I'll buy something that isn't 20 years old and works much better, like another T4. My "shelfer" Fox is severely beat up from running the living snot out of it when I was a kid. It is now safely retired to the shelf, where I can look at it and remember the good old days. Sitting beside my Jrx2, which is the car I raced back in the day, and the RC10 that I always wanted.

My real "runner" is my Clodbuster. JPS axles and wheels, TTR drivetrain, Boyer tube frame and a bunch of other high-end crap. An expensive queen that gets launched over any dirt pile I can find. Just like I did bitd with my Fox.

I see someone pointing out shelfers as the same thing as calling someone a "poser". I'd be more than happy to meet up with you and see your face when I smash your RC10 with my shelf-queen-worth Clodbuster that I bash the snot out of. If you're so hard, donate a buggy or two of yours so I can recreate some of those old RCCA shoots where they smash the buggies like full scale monster jam runs.
