RC10 graphite

I have a 30 year old RC10 graphite and I installed a 3300kv brushless motor with a 7 cell battery. Its too fast now and its taking the fun away from using the RC10. Is there a better motor option for the buggie? Something that is brushless and has power similar to stock?

You could go with a 6 cell pack, or something like a 21.5t motor. That should tame it down some.

I have recently put a 21.5 in my original 6 gear equipped short arm RC10 and I think it offers a perfect retro power level. A 17.5 can also be more manageable without the diff ripping punch of a 4 pole. If you are using a 3300kv motor, it sounds like it's sensorless. I have used the same in mine, as well as a 2100Kv sensorless. It will depend on your esc, but I've never been happy with the low end throttle response with a sensorless motor, they are also difficult to set the slipper with since they cog when bound. I'd recommend an esc that can run both, and get a slower 2 pole sensored motor. Other things I've tried are to reduce the epa on the transmitter to 70%, and giving the throttle a bit of expo to mellow the punch of a 4 pole. This helps keep the tires from lighting up every time you giv'er the gas, but like I say once I went with a slower sensored motor the car just felt so much more manageable.
