Alright I believe all of my parts to complete this build are now here. I don’t quite know why I’m even doing building this as it’s not old and I didn’t grow up wanting it. But I love nitro stadium trucks and the nitro conversion really hit home for me. I’ve really come to love the Dudgeon trucks as they were a huge part of Associated building their GT. Now the gas trucks are dead and people are creating kits to try and revive the class and how it’s almost gone full circle I thought was so cool. I really have no plan on running this. I’m building it for the enjoyment of the build. And one day it might be cool and retro, I’m getting ahead of the curve.

And big thanks to Joe at Brain Dead Designs on the paintwork. He really payed attention to the details and it is as perfect a replica as possible IMO.

Well this is as far as I’m making it tonight. I’d say it’s about 50% complete. And man! Are these new trucks way overbuilt compared to the old trucks I’m used to working on. All of the hardware has about 6mm of thread engagement and it’s quite the chore to thread in with the tiny little allen key I have to work with. Really wishing I had a nice set of T-handles about now.

When I heard that there was a conversion kit offered to make a T6.2 a gas truck, I almost didn't believe it. It looks like a super cool build!

As for the actual assembly, I know a lot of 8th scale racers use cordless electric screwdrivers to handle assembly/disassembly for that exact reason. Had I stayed in 8th scale racing any longer, I was going to be investing in one myself.

Fingers are fine. I use my hands for a living. Super stressful that I’m gonna start stripping stuff out though as I’m putting quite a bit of force to turn the little allen. I started with a fresh allen, and dremeled the tip off around halfway through to freshen it up. Both kits have a very good fit and finish. Overall very pleased with it.

As for the actual assembly, I know a lot of 8th scale racers use cordless electric screwdrivers to handle assembly/disassembly for that exact reason.

Hindsight, that would’ve saved me a ton of time!!

While I have some ball drivers and T handles, I find myself using this a lot.

It has standard and metric, down to 1.3mm/0.05".

I've yet to strip a screw or twist a tip. I can't say that about my other stuff. Can't beat Wiha quality.

All that lead up and finished in about one night.... Modern kits just about fall together though. I remember when the T4 first came out you could assemble it in about half the time of all previous kits.

I wonder what it drives like.... I think you need a second one

Nice build. I have a T5M nitro conversion and it was kinda tricky figuring out some of the items. Basically just got a chassis from a guy on a another forum along with a GT2 roller and had to piece together the rest. That looks like a much easier way to go. Does it use the T6 transmission? How does the battery mount?

Yep, months of collecting parts all for it to be over in a matter of hours.

And no, I’ve spent way too much on this one I don’t need another lol.

A coworker showed me one of those. Almost bought one but it was in worse shape than I’d liked it to have been. Maybe one day. The battery is taped to the door on the bottom of the chassis and sits underneath the fuel tank. I just used strapping tape. It’s the stock transmission just uses a different spur, outer slipper hub, and slipper pads.

In spite of it being brand new technology and all new parts, it definitely has that old school early converted feel to it by looking at the pictures. You look at parts of it and know that's not what they were intended for, but some clever guy figured out a way to get it all melded together. Awesome build! I don't know if I would be able not to run it, it looks like it would be such a blast.
