Another A&L team truck prototype build
Hey all, welcome to my A&L Team Truck builds, I wasn't sure where to put this but since #5 of 5 is here I thought I would keep them in the same area. The trucks are #2 of 5 and what I’m guessing is #1 of 5. This is a special one for me, I’ll be keeping one in the collection and most likely let the other one go to a loving home. I’m thinking one of the trucks is #1 because it’s completely unlabeled. I have all truck #2 components, I have ONE component from #3, I know who owns #4 (he can chime in if he wishes), and #5 is owned by hugger19.
My only goal here is to clean them up and get them assembled. I don’t want to do any chassis restoration on these, I prefer to leave them in their currently ran state. Here’s what I’m starting with.
The green chassis looks like some sort of template or maybe an unfinished car so I won’t be doing anything with that one. I’ll be starting with #2 and will use AE trailing arms and outdrives. Here it is cleaned up with some soap and water.
After talking with Jeff earlier today about the front arms, I’ll probably go back to the Ultima Pro XL that were on initially. These arms are RPMs for the RC10T which were not available at the time of debut, so not quite period correct.
I was up WAY too late last night working on this with my headlamp on, so I took these shots this morning.
The trans case is an empty placeholder for now, I wanted to check the fitment of the rear shock tower and trans brace.
Next up is to build the LW transmission, go back to Ultima Pro XL arms, and finish off the steering. I'll need to look through the shocks I have before deciding what to do there.
I've been looking forward to these builds the most since seeing hugger19's build thread and figuring out what the heck was in that box in the garage.

Oh man, this really fits my dad's personality perfectly lol! I am not at all surprised by it.
I read somewhere it was custom but I'll look into that. I think I need a shock tower for the second truck!
Thanks man, this one is special for sure. I really need Chris to pull some A&L truck bodies to finish this one off the right way.

Yeah #4 is currently in my care and these posts are definitely reminding of the work that needs to be done...lol...thanks for that Adam...I wonder who raced the trucks and which truck Brian Peterson (sp) was racing? And by the way, your dad would be so happy to know you are doing this, makes me happy (and sad) too...

Is there a picture of this? I’m not sure what truck you’re talking about..
I was hoping this might inspire you to get it all cleaned up! Please come take some of these monster truck wheels and tires lol.RPMfieldtester wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 8:27 pm Yeah #4 is currently in my care and these posts are definitely reminding of the work that needs to be done...lol...thanks for that Adam...I wonder who raced the trucks and which truck Brian Peterson (sp) was racing? No sorry no pic but I do remember me asking your dad why didn’t I sell me that one also, he said I wanted to sell you one that was nice and in good shape. The prototype one was kinda beat up.

Re: Another A&L team truck prototype build
Took another look at the extra chassis last night and it is NOT the same as the numbered versions. It isn't drilled for the upper deck stiffener and when I overlaid the upper deck onto the lower, the holes needed break into the skeletonized pockets at the rear of the truck. The front bulkhead hole spacing is also different from the numbered versions. I'm not sure what that chassis was, but it was ran.
The green template looking chassis was also a runner, and somewhat matches the numbered versions. It's also drilled for the upper deck but not countersunk on the bottom, so I don't think it was ran that way. My thinking is this chassis was ran as a single deck, geometry was good, so it was turned into a template for the others..
Unfortunately it looks like there will only be one truck built.
