RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
My search skills might be failing me, but what is involved in converting a nitro RC10DS into an electric DS?
Maybe need:
B or C stamp chassis
Buggy stealth gearbox
Motor plate
Rear shock tower
Rear bulkhead
battery cup
Anything else?

Re: RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
I'm not going to cut anything up, but I prefer electric and I had a build plan. I just couldn't pass on this one though.

Re: RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
Have myself a NDS that I'm converting to electric too. Planning on using a dynotech motor mount and attaching the electronics to the chassis somehow. Keeping it simple.

Dynotech has two conversion motor plates. Get the VER.2 If you plan on running brushless.

Re: RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
Yeah, all you need is a motor plate for the GT.
The chassis is shorter than the GT though, so you may have some issues with getting the electronics/battery to look like they're meant to be there.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize that, I just bought whatever they sell on ebay. What's the differences?rctenracer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 9:19 pm Dynotech has two conversion motor plates. Get the VER.2 If you plan on running brushless.

Both plates will work with brushless. The V2 works with both brushed and brushless motors.

Re: RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
My intent is to see what would be needed to make it a DS, not a nitro DS with an electric motor conversion. I probably wasn't clear enough. The DS models I've been seeing have been selling for $400+. I was thinking this nitro with a few part swaps would be my cheaper way to getting one.

Chassis tub, rear bulkhead, rear tower, rear arm mounts, battery box, antenna mount, 2.25 trans w/motor plate, trans brace. Think that's it.
IDK if the rear body mounts are different at all.

Moo ahh, ah ah ahhh.... The future electric DS has arrived. The Exide Batteries decals seem like fitting foreshadowing of the future.

Re: RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
To be honest, the easiest way to convert it over would be to start with a full RC10, swap the nose plates/front ends between chassis, then the rear suspension/shock tower shocks. You will end up with a DS and a Nitro RC10 buggy ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: RC10DS nitro rebuild as electric
It's not like I'll be cutting, grinding, etc, just part swapping. If I come across a good deal on an electric DS, then the nitro probably stays nitro. But that Exide body is kinda egging me on to electrify.
