Don't think it's possible , the belt would have to be routed up over the motor pretty harshly , belt drag would be bad . You might be able to use one of the really early cable drive setups .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.
