I got this one for what I consider a steal, but it was missing the body, decals, tires, and motor. I have a few tricks up my sleeve for those, but for now...let's build it!
No slipper for the Hammerhead and Ironman, it was standard on the MT10 series

Solid camber links too. MT10's came with adjustable rods
The Hammerhead uses shorter than truck front arms, unlike any other in the series
See, I told ya so!
Very sturdy front bulkhead

Updated speed control. Their originals were pretty bad
Fit is not good with the new rotary style speed control
And now for some shocks. Actually they are amazingly smooth
Oh, that's not cool!
Caps have breather holes

It does have a losi look. Academy was the maker I believe. These were out at the same time as the World Scale vehicles. At the trade shows they would drop them from high up and let people run them into a brick wall to prove durability. They had a 5 year parts guarantee too iirc. Very sturdy rigs. We sold a ton of em at Tammies, but the Hammerhead and Vortex (buggy) were not very popular compared to the MT-10's and Ironnan

many, many years ago, my lhs had a stack of the iron man truck kits. i think i got one for like $50 or something like that. mainly got it for my kid to bash around with when he was like 4-5. it was a pretty decent kit for what it was....... and good enough for him.
but i gotta say, that transmission has to loudest gearbox i have ever heard in my life.
The gearbox has a lot of dead space inside, I always wondered if that added to the sound. You could get them to spin pretty good, like this one with bearings feels great- but I bet it's loud too.
Did you guys ever break it? We carried a lot of parts and besides upgrading to stealth diff screws and t nuts (originals were plastic with no brass insert, later they were upgraded) we didn't sell a lot of parts

That looks really cool, but the front kickup area looks like a potential weak spot. I'm talking through my hat because I've no experience with this chassis; just perusing the overall look.
Been sitting on this one while the hobby room is under construction, the parts from Tower arrived while I was in disassembly mode. Finally mounted the body tonight after locating my scissors lol
Since it was missing the body and tires I decided take a little freedom with those pieces. I was able to use the road hawgs and Parma Ford body that were available bitd and still are although the compound of the tires may have changed- I don't recall the yellow dots on em bitd

The Hammerhead 1/10th scale truck was one of three models (Ironman, Hammerhead, Vortex) released by Model Rectifier Corporation in 1997 that rode on a lower cost version of the MT-10 platform. Under the street rod style truck body the Hammerhead...

Funny what you do and don't remember sometimes. MRC was really big on taking the back cover for their ads. Not the latest racing tech of the day but like you said, they looked cool.
I bought this buggy from fellow member cyberfox some time ago and now plan to run it in a vintage race closeby.
My initial plan when I bought this was to put Lazer arms on it. I tried, and Tamiya df-03, and Academy wyvern. None worked out.
I did...

Nice, what was the mix of cars in your class?
It was limited to the release years 87-88 so mainly cat xls's and optima mid's, and a single hybrid: 870C mixed with a Cat front end.
I'm not a good driver and was struggling with technical issues,...
MRC MRX - I remember a good few years ago seeing this advert, it was in Radio Control Model Cars, May 1988 as a kid I was thinking this car looked pretty rad. So here we are 33 years on and I've picked up this MRC MRX off a great chap as a winter...

A great body it is Damien, all cut and fitted, loving it clear but your right a paint scheme is needed to truly set it off.....
About eight years ago my Parents bought me a second hand MRC Thunder King. The truck is amazing. It has two drive motors that allow the truck to traverse almost any obstacle. But I'm having an issue with battery life, or lack there of. The truck...

I am looking at upgrading to an ESC. As of right now I am still running the mechanical speed controller with a LiPo that I picked up for $15. Once I made that switch, I went from about one and a half minutes to 25. I cut it off at 25 minutes to...
