Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Ok guys..I think I am narrowing it down w/ your help. This pictures is key to what I am hypothesizing: http://www.rc10talk.com/download/file.php?id=110346&mode=view First, I tried another 72T NIB and same issues. I also tried the kit supplied 81T, same but doesn't seem as loose. That could be my...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Thanks for the comments all!

Both hubs slide down and yes, it's very obvious when it is not aligned.

The spur is this, not the kit:

Makes me think I should use the kit one and see...Very strange indeed. I'll compare the hubs tonight.

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Don't think it's the spring..Here's a video of my spinning it. (Thanks for the tip on embedding videos.)

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Yeah its way too tight in the pic, but if the spring isnt compressing then there is something not right. Id start over, and make sure the pads are in the right spot and the slipper hubs are keying into the shaft correctly. OK, will look at it again. So, if you spin the topshaft the trans will spin....

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Ok. Thanks. I just think the sandwich between the slipper hubs aren't set properly but I can't seem to figure out exactly what the issue is...Almost like the pads are too slippery or not entirely set within the nesting of the spur but that doesn't seem the case..Very weird. I'll continue to look at ...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Some progress! But still issues w/ the slipper. I want to thank GoMachV and Sc8p for spending part of their Sunday with me! http://i.imgur.com/1xCPw5x.jpg Now to the slipper. After GoMachV's hints, I did get the spur to operate correctly but realize the pad was not aligned property so I took it apar...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Thanks! Yes, I re-attached everything and it works now. I appreciate the patience. Doing this for the first time puts a lot of self doubt...Plus, I am used the cartoony Tamiya instructions...Gotta love them. :D

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Thanks all! I ran it a good while and can see improvement. I greatly appreciate it! So now...I know how tight the diff nut is will depend on many factors and is not truly set until I have the car set up w/ wheels/tires. But, at this point in the build, when I turn the spur, it only turns itself but ...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Yeah, use the drill to spin the trans and break in the gears. As long as your slipper is not dragging on the motor plate, you do not need another one. Can you describe this a bit more in detail? I think I understand what you're saying. When I take off the slipper, the top shaft is exposed. I then c...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Got my diff balls today! Not bad, got an email back from AE on Monday and received it cross country today....Now back to the build. That is great! I will try to reach out again. I had sent them 2 emails, plus faxed the form for missing parts over a month ago and have had no response... Sorry to hea...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Thanks all! Can you explain the drill press process? I don't have a press but I have a drill...Will that suffice and how? Are you saying that use the drill in lieu of the motor? I think I get it. Also, will replacing the case and idler to 6565 and 6570 solve the top shaft issue? I've heard people 1)...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Sounds like the nut isn't tight enough yet. It's hard to tell someone how to do it when you've always gone by feel. I would say tighten the nut until you can visually see the spring collapse a bit. Maybe 1/8". The adjustment really comes after the car is assembled. There IS a trick to it... Wi...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

Thanks Joey! Appreciate your help. Well..I built the stealth transmission tonight. I was a bit worried about this because I knew about all of the topshaft issues. To be honest, I am so green that even though I sound like I know what a tight or stuck topshaft means, I really don't. After I covered th...

Re: My RC10 World's Re-Re Pre-Build Q's

That's some great customer service! I'm looking forward to seeing you progress with your build. Have you decided on a theme for the body yet? Thanks! I have not figured out body yet. I am a bit nervous about that part too. I have yet to try to do multi-color, let alone complex, art work on bodies i...
