Highly inspired by JHarris and his modded up Pro Radiant - I decided to do the same/similar.
First off - I have always yearned deeply for a Pro Radiant, they just looked so damn cool. Saw one ONCE at a race track - only in magazines and kits in...
i'm a few years late here, but this is a great build. thanks for sharing this and providing details on parts used. I'm working on getting my well used and loved Radiant back to running after sitting in a box for 30 years. i'll be doing the diff mod...
From what i gather from speaking to Steve Dunn, fewer than 50 of these Mid conversion kits were sold before they started churning out the official Pro Radiant kits. I have been on the hunt for an original one for aaagggessssss.... so was really...
This is the look that has haunted me since I was a kid after re-reading this mag review over and over again. Flames were my signature paint scheme during my racing days, thanks largely to this car (and the Radio Race Car 870c mag review).
I have...

It is the standard Pro Radiant kit bodyshell. You don't see it very often because everybody uses the Boost shell as that is the only one which fits over the saddle pack chassis upgrade.
As you may have seen in another thread i recently had a bit of ebay luck and now have An Ayk Sidewinder and Bobcat to restore.
First photo is after a quick run through the dishwasher , this was my first mistake as it removed most of the red...

Well following on from my recent monstrous Pro Radiant spares haul a couple of weeks ago (see my other post), I immediately had another stroke of luck. I posted up the pics of the haul on to various Fb pages and a day or so later received a message...
Well after lusting after the Pro Radiant bitd, I decided to have a go at sourcing one and so posted a wanted ad on RC10talk to see what might come up, if anything. I had looked over the Bay and seen a few had been sold in the past 18 months, in...

Try 'Rusty the Pro Radiant' thread as that has evolved into my full-on racer..... being developed at the moment by one of the top UK racers (Nathan Ralls) who is campaigning with it this summer in the UK vintage Revival event.
Hi everyone - I have an AYK Buffalo. I am always meaning to take the time to sit down and rebuild this car with new body and parts I have collected through the years. I have been thinking lately about putting it up for sale and putting the funds to...

This thread sounds rather familiar , like I've heard it before somewhere ?
Gotta be a first in the Vintage Electronics section.... have to give credit for that.
I've come across this car for sale but I know nothing about it. I like the looks and simplicity of the 1/12 on-roaders, and I've been passing on an R/C12e which looks heavily used, and/or aged, and has a horribly painted body, all red,...

Nice find.
I have the body and the motor , but not a matching chassis.
Nice to know at last what the Porsche body is from.
Hi!
Thought I should share this find with you guys. Bought it for about $60 just before christmas. It came 100% complete (radio box not in pics) along with unpainted original body. Quite a rare find! I´m far too unpatient to take pics during...

I don't think anybody was suggesting the bodies came from the same mold or were the same. People said the AYK body looked LIKE the SG Coyote body. And I also say they both look LIKE the AYK Gator body.
i just picked up a near mint ayk super trail bison, the body is in great shape but the paint is flaking terriably. looks like someone used normal paint instead of lexan paint. anyways will the sg coyote body fit it . or anyideas on how to get the...

Great build ! I'd just confirm the above , I fitted the 556 body on my Coyote and its possible but not a direct fit at all .
Back in the 80s and early 90s I used to run 2 & 4 wheel drive cars to a reasonable level in the UK. I was and early adopter of the Yokomo Dog Fighter etc, but I also was asked to look at running an...
So having built up my Pro Radiant kit a while ago now, I have been scouring the internet trying to locate a few spares to enable me to subsequently race it on the track without having to tiptoe around.... pretty impossible as spares are super scarce...

With the initial spares load, as well as selling off a fair bit to recoup my initial outlay I have squirreled away enough parts to build up around 4 cars, but with a few key items outstanding. The main part being diff out drives. I recently managed...
Does anyone know of a compatible replacement for the elusive AYK Viper chain?
Last post
Sdp/Si sells ladder chain in many pitches and sizes. If you can measure what you have they may sell it. The chain for the dominators, i read somewhere, came from them originally as well as some other small drive parts
Hi guys and gals , I need people's views on something .
I just found a broken tooth on one of my Ayk Bobcats diff gears , it's just one half broken tooth on one of the plastic sun gears or the gear that is fixed to the out drive .
So I duly tracked...

It's open , it's from 1985 , I don't think sealed diffs existed back then but I'm often wrong  , I can grease it but there's no way of trapping the grease or an oil in place , the gears are exactly the same and mesh well together so I think we...
can any one help with instructions for this kit, i have just picked up 2 of these and i would like to rebuild them both, one is new never run, but half built, the other looks like it in pretty good nick but in parts as well\\

Long shot I know, as this is an oooooold post (8 years old!), but was there ever a manual for this model found anywhere on das internets??? A mate of mine is looking for one.... Bullfrog? Retro?? Anybody????
I finished repairing and improving my buddy's Buffalo last night. I know it kind of looks a bit cobbled-together, but keep in mind it's for a runner/basher and he's not concerned about looks--just improved performance. I'll call it FrankenBuff ....

Necro post , looks nice , by had to have a peek when you said you'd done one .
A guy came in when I wasn't around and just dropped it off along with some other stuff for free. Even has a rough but useable body.

95% finished with a resto, just need the front ball joints part RB16...tried to form something in the interim but having issues...basically need a typical ball join that gets threaded through the suspension mount, where the ball itself has a hole...
I just picked up and restored an AYK Gator/Sidewinder... really a nice looking car. I'm thinking it's probably the first mid-motor 2WD buggy designed eh? :)
Anyway, I put a black can in there and took it for a spin and it seems that the...

I have a AYK 566B Super Trail in very good condition, but I miss the two spotlights for the roof (and the lexan driver). I guess these spots are close to impossible to get hold of, so if anyone with a Super Trail could shoot me some good images of...

Hi all, this is a build i'm currently working on, i use to own 2 of these buggys but i sold them quite a long time ago to a bloke that now we have become good friends, i've always love the Boost and a couple of years ago i got my hands on some parts...

Talked myself out of buying one a few times, finally succumbed to it.
No idea what it is missing or what it will need, looks pretty complete, I think.

Bob Stormer still has Boost wheels at a Price!! :)
I´ve always been fascinated by the looks of the gearbox on the 566b, so of course I had to have one. For racing, I´d pick the Scorpion over it anyday, but still a very cool and iconic buggy. The main issues with the 566b, now a days, are the price...

I'm working on restoring a AYK super trail. I will likely make a shock tower for the back and use a different setup in the front. I think I need shocks in the rear that would have dual ball joints (at the shaft and at the shock cap).

Hi Folks, I'm a new member here and I'm hoping some of you can help me out. I was given this AYK Bobcat for my 13th birthday in 1990. I absolutely loved this car, it was stupidly fast.

Anymore progress on this thread? I realise that it is nearly 2 years ago but hey, worth a try!
It's been a good while since this car has seen any action but I feel this is long overdue. This car is an ongoing build in progress and after it's last (and first) run I worked out a few areas that needed more attention.
This car was pulled down...
