It is my first thread beside my introduction in this forum.
It had stars on the box, it came from Japan, but it was not a Tamiya. I believe the rear conception was slightly inspired from Tamiya's Holiday Buggy, while the front...

And here is the Hunter with the new set of wheels...
I'm quite sure one looking in the details would say the rear side of the tires are not good, but this is to run the car, and I know from what I did with the Samurai and the Ninja it will...
So I've had this poor beaten Samurai sitting in my cellar for years, I don't remember where it came from but it appears to have been raced at some point. It's on foams, has some sway bars, the rear transmission case seems to have epoxy on it to...

Probably a valid comment, but it's certainly worth mentioning these wheels exist for anybody else out there who has a Samurai project and sees this topic. 8)
Few weeks back, the postman delivered 3 parcels, among which there was two Marui rare cars: a Ninja, and a Shogun (from two different origins). It is quite exceptional get a Shogun, but to get a Shogun and a Ninja the same day is probably...

Agreed, even though I print my own parts I bought his samurai case STL file and had it professionally printed- turned out fantastic! You don't need a printer of your own these days, the ones you can hire are better than what we can afford at home...
So, with the RC10 Graphite done, I figured I'd try to get somewhere on the Big Bear that I scooped up with that giant pile of free gold. It really doesn't look like it's been run much at all. The electronics are a mess and I'm not sure what...
I've seen it mentioned that the drivetrain of the Aristocraft Dolphin is compatible with the Samurai. Since I am currently rebuilding a Samurai and needed a few things I ordered a Dolphin gear set and front diff.
I'll keep the Dolphin parts on the...

The design of the whole Dolphin leans very heavily on the Samurai , the modular layout of components is the same , even the mounting of the bumper is the same design , the rear gearbox (disregarding quality control) may actually be better ?

Recently a project I had in mind materialised... The Marui Samurai 4WD was one of my dreamt cars when I was 15 years old. I never got one back in the time. This car looked awesome and aggressive. It maybe the most beautiful roll cage...

Yesterday morning, a friend told me he was said some people would love to see Big Bear tires on Thingiverse... Among my contacts, I have 2 friends wih Big Bear I can chat with when this was landing in my chat, and I contacted them...

Yikes, I have an ender 3V2 and use Cura for my slicer, I'd have to look more into the settings. 40 hours for a set of tires... Yikes. Lol. But it's doable... What size nozzle did you use?
I had hard times trying printing TPU with my Ender 5 plus:...
This one is off the charts cool. It is a Pit-In Racing Team Samurai complete with redesigned chassis, belt drive and revised independent suspension. Amazing!
Scored a couple big bear projects lately and after thinking about it for a while I decided to create a chassis for one of em. Nothing crazy, with the very limited suspension I didn’t even bother accommodating oil shocks. Battery can fit sideways or...

I haven’t really shown pics of it because there are a few copycats around lol
This is an odd question, but does anyone know what the big bear body clips looked like? A bunch of clips came with my two, just curios if any of these are the stock ones. 20220824_223716.jpg

This is what they look like according to the manual:

It's still hard to tell exactly. If anyone here has a NIB one maybe they can chime in.
Finally got around to restoring this....body still has to be done.
Went with a new vintage Parma wiper speed control with brake and scored and original M480RS motor....this was me and the Diamond One's 1st ever rc back in 86' so it's way up there on...

Marui set of tires can be quite expensive those times... And you are lucky when you find a car with wheels which were properly stored...

A few months ago I bagged a Samurai in pretty good nick and did some minor restoration then could not resist driving it , long story short I didn't want to wreck it and came across a parts lot at a reasonable price .

Glad its all together again as it should be :D , motor wise if its brushed I'd go 21 turn or more or if its brushless then 17 turn is pretty safe .
I am very new to vintage rc restorations and have acquired 2 vintage rc cars (1x marui hunter, 1x tamiya manta ray) from my dad and want to do a low buck restore and slight upgrade. The hunter is a runner that need a new motor and the...

I appreciate all the info I think ill go with the manta ray and have the hunter as a shelf queen as the old man painted the body shell in a 2 tone blue and silver metallic and would hate to have the chassis fail on me. Considering that all the...
Well, this is the last thing I need with all of the projects I have on the go.....

So recently I got hold of a car I always wanted but avoided getting because of the reputation of their fragility , the Marui Samurai , In my mind they are one of the nicest looking cars from the 80's and when I decided to get one I was sort of...

Hunter 1.jpg So way back when, I desperately wanted a real RC car, but all of my dream cars were way out of my budget (RC10, Hotshot, etc...). I saved up my money for what seemed to be forever, and ended up at my LHS looking at entry level cars. I...

I'm about to start a cleanup/restore on my Marui Ninja. It's in a pretty bad state and parts are hard to come by so most likey it will just be a tear down to clean and rebuild with what I have, unless parts fall from the sky :)

Parts are starting to arrive, just waiting on the new body/decals. Also got some bearings coming. (hopefully they're the right size)
Only thing needed now is the rear under guard and center drive shaft.
The Last Samurai? No...the last car Marui built back in 1988 wasn't the Samurai, it was the Shogun. To my knowledge, it was Marui's 13th car, so perhaps unlucky number 13...at any rate, I was looking for an RC car to help me continue working on my...
This project will be decidedly less interesting to most of you than something more high-end, but I thought it would still be interesting to see exactly what I could do to hop up the humble Marui Galaxy. This car belongs to my brother and somehow...

Probably a minor point, but why is there significant positive camber on the rear? Is this how it is stock or a side-effect from your modifications?
Thanks for the comments! The Galaxy has no camber adjustment at the rear. All Hunters and Galaxies...

As was yours, that was my very 1st rc back in the mid 80's. Changed my life forever, (cost me a shitload of dow! Lol) but great fun.....anyway, wanted to say very nice restoration!!!🙂
Had one as a kid, and I picked up a non-running example a couple years back. I think now is the time to get it going. I don't want to bash with it, just poke around the front/back yards.....since parts are expensive and hard to come by.

There are adapters so you can use Blackfoot/Monster-Beetle wheels/tires. I have some for mine. They're vintage parts, but they are out there.
Wondering if there's a solution to finding tires for these Big Bears? The originals are extremely hard to find, and I likely wouldn't want to drive on them anyways. Is there something that fits from another vehicle? Either a tire and wheel combo, or...

So I was lucky enough to find adapters for the rear wheels to fit Blackfoot, Monster Beetle, etc wheels/tires on the back of the Big Bear.
Wondering how the fronts would mount? They *appear* to just be bearings, with no weird hex nuts or anything....
HI!... I picked this Marui Hunter off of Ebay for $40. Seems in really good condition. Front bumper has a few scratches on it but that's about it. I will be basically tearing it down, cleaning it and putting it back together. I've already ordered a...

Does any on know if the Marui Galaxy chassis was made from ABS or was it a different plastic?
Last post
Thanks for the info guys. Since the chassis is ABS I am going to do a solvent bond. I will most likely use something like tenax 7R or ambroid proweld. Both of them are MEK based as I understand. These are straight up cracks so no filling is required.
My latest restoration project is a samurai, but I'm stuck at the gearbox assembly. Can't get it to turn smoothly. Everything is cleaned, in good shape and ballbearings are fitted. As soon as I try to tighten the screws that hold the casing together...

Hi guys, need your help regarding front dog bones of Marui Samurai.
Could someone post a link on where can I buy a front dog bones of Marui Samurai or any brand with the same size of the said car?
Ok looking at the simularities between the big bear and the wild willy from tamiya I got to thinking are parts between the two compatable? I need a gear box and some other parts.

I think with me it might be because I saw it that way when I first looked up the truck before I bought it and it stuck even though I know it is Marui. I will spell check myself better in the future lol

The 'MARUI NINJA' would argueably have to be one of the sexiest off road buggies from the 1980's. (we atleast I think so- LOL!)
