Did AE always have them priced @ $399 on their website, or did they just try to milk the price at the very end? I ended up paying $350 shipped for a sealed one on the bay last month.

Is that a shelf queen or are you running it? I was curious how the 6 gear tranny was holding up while using that brushless motor.

There is at least one nib and one built on rctech.net. Of course they are on the bay as well. I'm still on the fence about buying one.

I suppose it also depends on your budget. I've seen some vintage ones being sold at ridiculous (to me) prices on the bay.

Those were pretty popular back in the day. I had a few, and I either sold them off or trashed them. I've considered buying one for my vintage collection.

It looks like a runner, and you only paid $80 for it. Depending on your budget you could drop $35 on a Stealth tranny and run some modern electronics. Not really rare IMO, and that conversion could have been done well after the real truck kits were available.
