Re: Bosscat. Or?

When I emailed Schumacher a few years ago about long term parts availability for my CAT XLS ReRe, they wrote back to say that they don't ever really discontinue parts for their older models, however they may not have every part in stock consistently (they must run small batches of older parts from t...

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!

Also, youtube can transcribe the video, just click the gear icon, select subtitles, then select translate and pick your language of choice. Not as good but... more than provided in the video. I did not know this youtube function was there... It worked pretty well and got a little more flavor of his...

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!

Great video. I got the sense Akira said a lot more in Japanese about the reproduction project than the English subtitles provided. Several minutes of speaking yielded a couple english sentences, I would like to know what missed out on. I also noticed the 87 Worlds Optima Mid on a shelf in the backgr...

Re: Kyosho optima pro 4wd

Hey there, what a great find! I don’t recall the Optima “Pro” model from back in the day, they made so many kits back then. I had a couple Kyosho cars in the 80s, and I recall the nice quality of the parts. I would start out with the kit motor, it should work fine. If you have only done crawling thi...

Re: TOMY Intruder - now complete

I glad to see this string got bumped, what a cool car! I must have stepped away from this hobby right when these hit the scene as I have no recollection of TOMY doing anything but kid's toys of all sorts. This is obviously a true hobby grade race car. Now I have another series of vintage cars to lea...

Re: Aftermarket Kyosho hop-up parts

Thanks for the reply on the EXO axles and other parts. CVA axles are the type of part where I would think soft metal or sloppy machining could quickly ruin your day. I plan to run brushless in the Mid and think these axles would be a good performance upgrade over the stock dog bones. Thanks for the ...

Aftermarket Kyosho hop-up parts

I am curious about other folks' experience with aftermarket part quality for modern Kyosho models, more specifically the re-re Optima Mid. For example I am looking at CVD's for my re-re Mid. I see EXO Design and Koswork both make these. I have no experience with either brand. Are they comparable to ...

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!

This kit is very appealing to me, brings back the memories. I may order one. In 1987 I was 14 and bought a the original Ultima kit soon after it won the worlds. I recall the World Champion Ultima being featured front and center on the Tower Hobbies monthly catalogs. The Ultima was a major upgrade to...

Re: Traxxas sending cease and desist letters to aftermarket companies then backing off.

The mechanical comparison to the Ultima is spot on. My first impressions were from the perspective of a 15 year old kid, one who did not yet own an RC10 or know all it's mechanical particulars. What jumped out at me looking at the RCCA ad was gold chassis, gold shocks, gold motor plate, white nylon ...

Re: Traxxas sending cease and desist letters to aftermarket companies then backing off.

My first experience with Traxxas was pretty good. I kid in our neighborhood got a new RC car from his father, a RTR Traxxas Cat. He considered it an upgrade to his hopped up but well beaten up Grasshopper. My brother and I at first were not impressed, not a kit? how good can it be?, and looks all li...

Re: Hot Trick Red Fox (Tamiya Fox conversion)

This thread reminds me of the Fox my younger brother had. After suffering his second Tamiya chassis failure I talked him into ordering the basic Hot Trick Fox kit. I think I had some of their parts on my frog at that point. The HT chassis proved indestructible but the original fox body was a terribl...

Re: RC10 Graphite team car vs RC10 Team Car any handling differences?

I would have thought the tub cars would have more flexibility
Quite likely you are correct. I am going from memory so I may have mixed up the reasoning why the TA drivers went back to the tub chassis.

Re: RC10 Graphite team car vs RC10 Team Car any handling differences?

I have both and I think they handle basically the same, but I have not spent dedicated time driving them back to back in any scientific way with identical set-ups on a fixed course. I recall back in the day when the RC10 Graphite kits first came out (1989?), team drivers ran them for maybe a season ...

Full Size Tamiya Wild One

It seems some folks in the UK have produced a full size Tamiya Wild One. Super Cool IMO. Now to come up with the $40K and space in the garage. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a44485459/tamiya-wild-one-max-revealed/ https://finance.yahoo.com/news/this-ev-is-basically-an-rc-car-hit-with-a-growth-ray...

Re: RC10 Worlds Car rerelease collectibility (rapid rise)

I bought a Worlds ReRe kit on ebay in 2020. It was partially built not new in box so I did not pay too much of a premium over MSPR. But I was very unimpressed with the quality. It had the messed up top shaft, and I think something else was goofed up too that I can't recall at the moment. Over all it...
