Re: Project RC10 Bajamaro

Received the VTA 21mm wheels and the tires are almost tuck inside the body. The right diameter might finally be the RC4WD Dirt Grabber, the Tamiya BFGs were a tad too small Here's another inspiration (a TA02 would be a better fit for this one): [youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=54...

Re: Project "Barn Find"

Some update (almost there!): - I need a shorty battery - I need a soldering iron to install the original motor that I still need to clean (surface rust) - the right rear wheel is locked, I need to check the transmission, never seen this before - I need to acquire a Protech I body and paint it! https...

That's the ones I'm looking for first but they are very rare.

Re: Project RC10 Bajamaro

Never seen this one, looks pretty sick! I'm looking for Tamiya Hummer (cheap and easy to find) or BFG, do you have a reference for the Prerunner tires? Aren't they 2.2? I just discovered the look you're going for : https://bangshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Prerunner-Camaro.jpg Maybe tmaiyas t...

Re: Project RC10 Bajamaro

Thanks for the advice, I'll take a look, I guess I could maybe shave 2 mm off each side with the right offset wheels. Not at full compression so I'll add some bump stops, but turning is fine, I could even have smaller wheel wells. I'm still looking for smaller tires, maybe Tamiya Hummer or BF Goodri...

Re: Project RC10 Bajamaro

Do the tires clear the body when the suspension is articulated and wheels turned left to right. Not at full compression so I'll add some bump stops, but turning is fine, I could even have smaller wheel wells. I'm still looking for smaller tires, maybe Tamiya Hummer or BF Goodrich, should look much ...

Re: Project "Barn Find"

Great news! my soldering iron broke down so I'm stuck here.

I want to install the blue Reedy stock motor (Cadillac) but it'd have to wait till I order a new iron
RX will be non period correct with a Futaba R2004-GF.

Re: Project "Barn Find"

Wow that came out beautiful bud great job on the resto. Thanks, it's far from a real restoration, shock bodies and aluminum chassis parts have a lot of scuffs, deep marks sometimes. Some nylon parts still have some yellow stains... I'm happy with the result so far, it's a cheap project, only had to...

Re: Project RC10 Bajamaro

I received the front and rear truck body mounts from Andy's. First mock up: looks really whack, wheelbase feels too short, body sits too high and the entire body should be moved backward... https://i.imgur.com/l6qXJG6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RvZfzXa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PSW7mxm.jpg https://i.imgu...

Re: Project "Barn Find"

Some progress from the last 2 days. The motor has an Edinger address on its label, I'm planning on using it. How do you remove those rust stains without damaging the label? I removed most using WD40 and some thin sand paper. https://i.imgur.com/FQSPmr5.jpg After all the white parts soaked in bleach ...

Re: Project "Barn Find"

It took me a while before I started this project, I loved how it looked with all the fancy dust but could not resist working on it at the end. https://i.imgur.com/HqEbEdt.jpg I love this picture! The car truly does look like a "barn find". I have so many restored, squeaky clean RC10s sitti...

I was familiar but wanted to try something a bit less harsh, might give it a try next time on certain parts.

Re: Project "Barn Find"

The other parts are now soacking in bleach :) Mixed results so far, so parts still have some yellow/orange stains that won't go off
Bakauata wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2019 10:03 pm Nice. Those parts seem to have cleaned up pretty well. Do you plan on stripping the whole thing down?
